Did they say anything about Yakuza 5’s “north american fall release date”? Fall is pretty soon, and there’s no date. Sega’s already ditched us once with PSO2
I’m conflicted on it. On one hand, I was really worried that it’d just be reskinned Battlefield 4. There’s some similarities, but thankfully it’s not that. On the other hand, it’s not as Starwarsy as Battlefront 2 either.
I’ve been following this game for a few years now at Toronto’s Bit Bazar events, and every time I play it is a complete blast. I disagree with the assertion that the lack of online ruins it because the design is so fundamentally based around having the person right there beside you.
I was not a fan of any of the chips from this year. Last year had some pretty good flavours. It’s interesting reading this article because I kind of enjoyed the Scalloped potatos and absolutely hated the BBQ beans. I personally don’t enjoy flavours that try to emulate other foods like chicken or beef. I guess I’m like…
I can understand Nintendo’s stance on this. I’m a huge fan of Mario romhacks and have been for years and years, but with Mario Maker coming out in two days, they’d be directly competing with romhackers on the “user created mario level” front. It just wouldn’t make sense. It’s Nintendo’s property and they do own it. I…
Taylor Swift may have had an awkward moment here where she missed the point, but calling the Bad Blood video “basically a catalog of white models holding guns.” is an absurd oversimplification. That thing was shot and directed like a Hollywood movie and also featured Kendrick Lamar in a rap cameo. To claim that it and…
The big problem with people comparing the costs of Shenmue 1/2 to this kickstarter budget is that it’s not 1999 anymore and they don’t have to invent the future. Shenmue 1 and 2 were built from scratch on the Dreamcast, and the team basically had to create the entire open world genre in the process. Nobody knew how to…
I think it’s a reasonable assumption that ps3 unreal tournament 3 mods didn’t set the world on fire because ps3 unreal tournament didn’t set the world on fire. Unreal Tournament 3 was very much made and pushed as a PC type game, and even then on the PC it didn’t make as huge a splash as other franchises. I’m not…
Having played the beta (and the alpha) it’s really smartly designed. The run speed isn’t incredibly fast, but the levels are reasonably compact so you don’t realize it. It takes a minute or two to get used to the controls, but there is some incredible level design in this game from what they’ve shown. It’s wildly fun,…
(Cont... ‘cause gawker’s funky comment system still doesn’t work!)
I typically don’t end up being able to pirate games for current gen because I’m not willing to go out and get a pricey mod-chip installed and then have to fight tooth and nail with system updates. That said, when the dust settles, I end up pirating stuff. I’d like to say that it helps because the games aren’t widely…
Actually $90 is the best price I’ve seen for Chrono Trigger (at retail). Outside of counterfit chinese reproduction carts, Chrono Trigger on SNES is going to run you at least $100 at a used game store. That said, you can probably get it cheaper on ebay, and this Gamestop online store is technically competiting with…
Realistically, even though these games were insanely high profile, this was probably a pretty easy secret. Imagine the Kotaku story if rumours started spreading. “Sony to reveal Last Guardian, FF7 remake and Shenmue 3 at e3”.
I’m not 100% on this game, though I’m not prepared to write it off entirely. I think it looks good, but Doom 1 and 2 have some of the best level design around, as well as just feeling great to play. Doom 4 looked like it probably felt pretty good, but it still seems like they haven’t replicated that feeling of…
Assassin’s Creed was a pretty good time. That said, I think 3 wrapped things up. I played a bit of 4, but lost interest and don’t really have any real desire to go back to the series. These games could be the best thing ever, but I’d still be tired of them at this point. That’s just the nature of things when you’ve…
Personally, as someone who’s a fan of Mirror’s Edge I really, really, really, really hope they don’t go the Assassin’s Creed/Dying Light way. Mirror’s Edge had this crazy stick-shift approach to platforming where you’re inputting every action, and it felt incredible once you got the hang of it. More to the point, they…
Two stories, both from my Grade 12 (last) year in highschool. The first was a lan party where I got together with my friends and we set out to game all night. There were 12 of us and a lot of games cap out at 8 (rts mostly) which meant that we often had two consecutive games going. Our gimmick was that every time one…
These videos always kind of bug me. Like, it’s obviously a bit biased. I’m a 22 year old, which still means that I was far from alive when the original Contra was released. That said, my older cousin showed it to me when I was 11 or 12. Contra specifically is a bad example, but games like Ninja Gaiden, I discovered…
Realistically if you want to talk about a celebration of Marvel characters, MvC3 (or 2 for that matter) does that pretty well, and also makes for an all around great fighter. I get that this is a completely different kind of game, but given the choice to play this with my friends or MvC, I’d definitely pick the later.…
