Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine would like a word. Frankly I was surprised when Galaxy 2 was announced. It wasn’t (and isn’t really) Nintendo’s M.O to do a direct sequel.

I’m torn here. My first instinct was to blast this review for refusing to engage with a game on its own terms, and I stand by that... sort of!
Going forward, Xbox could become more of a device-agnostic platform than a specific console ecosystem. By leveraging the library of Game Pass, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and the Xbox Series consoles, Microsoft makes it easy to play on Xbox—but not entirely necessary.
It’s weird to me that Sakaguchi never made another game like Lost Odyssey. LO is basically my ideal modern JRPG. It’s Final Fantasy 10 but refined. I wasn’t a huge fan of Last Story, and Fantasian was great but definitely less ambitious in its Story. Other than that he’s made mobile games, turn based strategy games,…
Actually this game was basically funded entirely in partnership with Microsoft. This is in addition to Mistwalker’s previous game, Blue Dragon. Phil Spencer apparently was a big fan and personally got Sakaguchi on board for the project. The hope on Microsoft’s part was that some big name Japanese devs would help sell…
Come on now, there’s really no need for this. Steamboat Willy has been public domain for ONE (1) day. Yes, this was obviously in the works for a while, but a more ambitious project wouldn’t be able to get away with that.
There aren’t more or less turn based RPGs than when Persona 5 came out. It didn’t save the genre, and also the genre wasn’t really dying. Persona 5 is fine, but this reads like it came from one of those hyperbolid Persona 5 fans who need to play another game.
Thanks, that’s interesting! I’m not really a business minded guy, so the whole mechanics of “free with ads” has always seemed like such a huge black box to me.
Does this make any sense as a business move? If they’re citing people’s lack of disposable income, are advertisers really going to sign up and get a return on those ads? Don’t get me wrong, I know this whole thing is just investor driven and it’s all fake, but when it’s worded like this, the advertisers have to…
Wait I understand saying that nobody cared about Avatar 1, but I actually really enjoyed 2. Most people I know saw it and enjoyed it. Actually, I think Avatar 2 almost fulfills the promise of the series.
I was actually making a joke! You see, it would be quite strange for a videogame to feature a method to make anybody say the n-world.
This is especially interesting to me because L4D2 absolutely stands the test of time, while L4D1 is fun, but feels a little aged. Imagine how many minds L4D could have blown if it was released in it’s ultimate-powered-up state
You’d think, but JFG is .... uniquely bad in its controls...
out of curiosity have you read the scott pilgrim comics? They tended to jump around a lot more in terms of perspective and centered ramona a lot more.
I think Final Fantasy 16 got snubbed. Personally I think it got snubbed for GotY, but I get that not everyone loved the game as me. That said, it had some seriously fun combat and looked incredible both technically and artistically. Not including it in those categories felt like a snub.
yeah that’s fair. Peter can’t say the n word either
Haven’t played the game, so I can’t judge, but Duke3D’s greatest strength for me is that it’s some of the best 3D level design ever made. It took the (already very good) levels of doom and refined them. It’s complex without being labyrinthine, it subtly guides you to where you need to go but still requires…
Gamestop should partner with nintendo and sega to make repro carts of older games. They could continue existing as a VIDEOGAME store (not hot topic + funkos) and also be selling a product that people want, which also is yet to be done on larger scales (doing it at a scale could bring down the cost). Of course there’s…
It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but it makes sense for game sales to keep up with inflation just the same as... literally everything else you can buy (but not wages haha)
I’m very happy for NFT’s to be dead and gone, and I’m very happy for all the twitter freaks to finally be out of my replies whenever I tweet anything vaguely related to crypto being dumb.
