That would be so cool!! Kirov runs ROYGBIV (a sub blog dedicated to LGBT related topics) and gets mainpaged a lot, and she lives in Japan, so she's written some really interesting stuff on that. I'm glad they've finally decided to pay her somewhat. Having people in a few major countries would be a huge asset, I think…
That's what I argued! And then that post about a Volunteer Award in Canada got mainpaged. And on the Powder Room. And there are, like, 3,000 hits and 70 something comments. Not bad, but not at all impressive - I feel like the exact same thing about Texas would have been 10,000, at least.
Oh yes. I never understand that - other people buy stuff too! But at the very least, Americans are somewhat interested in reading about other countries too, aren't they? Like I am bothered when major Canadian things aren't addressed, but I'd also appreciate knowing about what's going on in other countries. I love…
It's a good swath though, because people have interests across marketing groups. Like I'm mid-20s, but pieces like the one mentioned above help me think through different life paths and maybe be more ready for them.
Yes to all of this!
The books haven't really been my style, but yes there is definitely a demand!
I would be very very very interested!!
Yeah, plus that article had no verified content in it - like it was actually a tabloid. Perpetuating rumours that have no proof yet. And if they really do divorce, I would love to read a thought out piece covering things like you mentioned!
Oh, and maybe expanding the Pissing Contest format - that is just gold. Leave the Pissing Contest the way it is, but also have another on a different day with a different, less jokey-competitive focus - because soliciting stories from the commenters makes the comment section so much more interesting, and it can be…
That would be so cool! Weekly might be hard, but every couple of weeks?
Could it be like a "Jezebel's Book Club" thing? If the book is chosen for a reason, and there's a follow up discussion that's engaging, it would be really fun. And I don't think it's shill-y to give us deals on things (if possible), i09 does it all of the time and those deals are great.
Me too!
A book of the week or month would be so great, with a follow up discussion! Probably month, since it might take more than a week to order and have a book arrive, and read it.
I'd like to see more unique content created for/by Jezebel - it feels like the majority of content is just bringing our attention to things other people/websites have written/posted, without a lot of original analysis attached to the post.
Yep! To show that BING AGREES WITH ME! (I should have done Google dammit, I can't change my default search and always forget, grr.)
You are wonderful. Crucial edit, really. ;)
That is the Canadian Tuxedo, thank you very much!!!
But you rent them from people who own them! Because they bought them! Unless they're owned by a company I guess, but I know landlords are not strictly a NYC thing.
That would probably have been better.
