This is where a lot of the "gender pay gap" stuff comes in, though. Because women disproportionately take that cut in pay, responsibility, career momentum, etc. to have a child, whether we're talking 6 months or 5 years. If men and women equally take maternity/paternity leave or be SAHM/SAHDs, the gap wouldn't exist.

Wait, what? Women entering the workforce before all of the adult-life issues that impact careers are... relatively equal to men?

It's almost like THERE IS MORE THAN ONE AUTHOR!

Wow. That video gave me chills. Thanks for posting!

Maybe a good time to mention your "Sexualization, Exploitation and Black Female Celebrities" blog? I thought that was a good example of sexuality not always being about the male gaze.

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me... Sarah Palin and the lamestream mediaaa!

Aw, accusations of emotion! That's a new way to undermine an argument. Good job, you.

Serious question - are you intentionally obtuse, or is this an accident?

It's smug because the article writer assumed that observing this brief interaction gave them some insight into the child's entire life. But they're obviously exaggerating their concern - if you saw actual child abuse on a train, would you not do something to intervene? I sure hope so. Muttering "child abuse" to

The fat shaming part comes into play with the media coverage, not the original data...

Yes, exactly! My "ugh, child abuse" thought wouldn't have been towards the father...

Ohmygod. The future is here.

How much do I love the swoosh hair on those two younger boys? Love!!

It's that simple morally, maybe, in private. Not when broadcast to anyone who cares to watch it. Sadly, you no longer have control over your own narrative when things become public. Time and again the courts have taken this out of individual couples' hands if their behaviour is being witnessed by the masses. This

We're talking about the act of taking off her clothes being the sexual assault, not distributing her image. But recording someone against their will or without their knowledge fits under voyeurism laws. I'm not sure about distribution.

I'm glad we're being friendly now. Thank you for engaging in this discussion with me.

I don't - I wrote "apparently" because I've been informed this multiple times since posting about this elsewhere. I'm Canadian and don't have a solid grounding in American law. I don't know about that myself (I do know about the unconsciousness thing). I found the below quote on RAINN's website, but I haven't been

I do apologize for the snark - I'm fairly wound up about this topic, and receiving some pretty brutal comments for labeling this sexual assault. I'm not used to commenting over here, so seeing actual threats on my person for a comment like this has me kind of shaken up.

Actually, sorry, but you can't consent to sexual things that are done to your unconscious body and you actually can't even consent while drunk in the States (I only learned that while discussing this with people on Groupthink). Legally. You can't. So even if this woman literally said "honey, please, after we get drunk

NeoGAF users noticed this trend yesterday—one chiming in early to say "soon someone will do something absolutely horrible on cam,"—and being proven right not soon after. In an episode reported by GameRevolution and discussed in other forums, a couple sat on their overstuffed couch, allegedly drinking to
