But why did she go with a male pseudonym then? It's just weird to me. It seemed like a very obvious assumption that unknown male authors sell better than unknown female authors. Rowling has no history being subversive with gender so it really doesn't seem like that was the whole point of the exercise... one day maybe

I don't think you can trademark a phrase like that that could occur easily in regular conversation or other genre - a charitable foundation with the same name would probably get sued, but I can't imagine no one is EVER allowed to use that phrase to promote anything ever again. I've taken, like, two classes ever on IP

Was there any threat of legal action? This article doesn't mention it - just that the founder sent JT a letter and JT publicly apologized/acknowledged. It isn't like he's changing the name or giving the proceeds to the foundation or putting info on the record, so this one-time acknowledgment doesn't really take the

What's a double name? Like hyphenated (Mary-Sue) or is that the middle name?

"Supremely disappointed" - that is so sad!! I hope that most parents can keep this disappointment to themselves. Man oh man.

Frankie? That's my sister's name - it hasn't caused her problems in life yet, but she is only 20.

T-shirts, anyone?

I also like to write "pantsless" on everything - soulmates!!

We can support gender equality in general without actually liking the specific end product of something.

I think that this conversation just changed my life.

Ha, thanks for asking!

I feel like the designers are approaching clothing as art in and of itself, while we (the people of the world) are approaching them as, um, CLOTHES. Or art once they are on a human body, but not just by themselves. (Oh man, am I now anthropomorphizing clothes?)

Ahhh okay, thank you!
