He's not reminding us that girls buy stuff, too - he's reminding us that girls deserve to have a cultural reflection of themselves, and seems (to me) to not be focusing on the opportunity for cash flow as much as the cultural necessity. And pointing out that there are negative side effects to ignoring an entire gender

Thanks! It's for my Master's thesis, but hopefully I'll be publishing out of it.

Okay, there's something wrong with these articles. The one quoting the LSE study says that sex work is illegal in Sweden, which it is not. Calls the whole article into question - I'm definitely going to find the source, though.

To my knowledge, most brothels include a caveat similar to restaurants (you know, how they say that the management reserves the right to refuse service). Also many descriptions of available sex acts and reviews include the acronym YMMV, for "Your Mileage May Vary", i.e. if you have horrible hygiene, you may miss out

Exactly. This example shows how legalization doesn't stop violence against sex workers - but it lets them actually deal with it when it happens, rather than suffering through it as part of the job.

I'm sure your list of material goods - sentimental are not - are worth much, much more than the image of a person bleeding to death on your dining room floor and the knowledge that you killed someone to protect things that could easily be lost in a fire, flood, earthquake, etc. Yup.

Comments like this finally make me see the necessity of greying out unapproved people/comments on the Jezebel threads.

This is so brutal. You're right, the issue isn't "theft", it's breaking a contract (or service fraud). Although since she likely didn't put the sex itself in writing, he wouldn't even be able to claim that.

Right!

You need proof to be charged with solicitation, either written or witnessed (ex. soliciting an undercover police officer). Being found in the company of someone who does sex for hire is not in itself a crime, even in Texas, I believe.

Never. As mentioned in the article, there is no amount of money that is legally considered worth more than a human life, in most sane places.

That is terrifying.

It's pretty lame to put Emma Stone in that list of beautiful "blonde" women that have no visual diversity. The woman has an unconventional type of beauty, isn't stick skinny, and has had every hair colour under the sun. She's most famous for her auburn hair, too.

Nah, the whole industry would collapse. Probably hard to fine many successful pageant queens without some sort of body modification, if you include procedures beyond the face.

Ah, but the point of this article is that the "same rules" don't have the same effect for everyone. This girl wore a dress similar in style to her less busty classmates and was the only one turned away because her body shape had a different impact on the dress, and vice versa. Teen years are experimental, and we learn

Thank you for being a light of sanity in this comment thread!

Confused. The album cover is a photo of a CD with red tape, or the actual album is a clear case and there is a piece of red tape on it?

Yeah, I was confused. Even this article described Dunham's Twitter statement as "about the detrimental, patriarchal implications and negative influences of porn". The tweet linked is just about her feeling icky about it. Thought I was missing a link - is this really all she said about it?!

... unlike the women this "primarily" happens to. Sigh. Stock photo fail.

Oh good, at least we know she's married! /sarcasm
