it brought them closer together

hahaha! aramaic is really easy to spot though. i assumed that was the language he must have been speaking as it is Jesus' language anyway. but with sleepy hollow being what it is, i also had to assume they weren't going to go in a "this is ancient chinese! for reasons!!!"

i mean the aramaic wasn't hard to notice, i figured that MUST have been the language in which the demon was speaking. these days it's cool sounding, if anything.

This whole episode felt off to me. I guess I never noticed just how hokey the show is before.

i enjoyed Americanah as well! It's funny in the way that she made so many observations I have made as a first-generation Nigerian in the US. It's great!

I loved Demons. I believe that was his last novel I'd read in my quest in college to read all teh finished works of Dosteovsky!!1!!! And I was probably the most satisfied with it. as I mentioned in my post, its pace was much swifter than his other books. And much of the existentialism Dostoevsky applies in this story

OHHHH you'll love Demons! It's actually one of his more quickly-reading works if that's any more incentive. It's paced a lot faster than his more philosophy-laden, monologue-heavy novels. I don't know, but somewhere in the second act, the story picked up and I had a hard time putting it down.

Currently finishing up A Cook's Tour (Anthony Bourdain), just a few pages left, actually.
Then to complete both Greater (Steven Furtick) and The Naive and the Sentimental Novelist (Orhan Pamuk). only a few chapters left in each of these.
After these I'll pick up the Four Loves (C.S. Lewis)

Upvoted for Lu Xun

i'd spend my time watching other stuff. i don't find the show compelling. It's basically one long indie film about young people "trying to find themselves" and all pretentious manifestations of that phrase just dragged out into 10 episode seasons.

THANK YOU! actually the interviewer just saw himself as asking a question both he and his girlfriend had. but somehow they turned it into some sort of sexist remark?

no mention of Borgen? Birgette Nyborg was everything!

The sad thing about Justin Beiber (I was forced to watch his first documentary years ago by my younger sister after losing in a bet :-(.) is that he really is a very talented musician. IIRC, he plays piano, violin, drums, and guitar, all quite impressively well. He is a true musical savant. But his pop career really

I have to agree. I've put up with a lot of ignorant bullshit growing up in Louisiana, mostly when I attended MEDICAL SCHOOL. (the only black girl on most of my rotations). One would think at a higher institution that regularly deals with people from all walks of life on a daily, and quite intimate level, would be able

Ugh, don't get me started on how much I can't stand Jindal. He really is the WORST!

SO many things make me upset about this Duck Dynasty guy and his story, and the reaction to it. And it may be because I'm human, but more specifically 1) I am black 2) I am a practicing non-denominational Christian 3) I am from Louisiana 4) I don't agree with ANYTHING this jackass says or believes and am very much

Not fair! I am not a bully :(

Welcome! You'll love it here! What do you plan on trying besides Cochon? You picked a great time too, as most restaurants in the French Quarter, Uptown, Garden District, the Central Business District, and the Warehouse District are offering Holiday Reveillon Menus, in which for a reduced price, you get an excellent 5

I am going to give his restaurant a try. La Petite Grocery is literally 3 mins from my apartment, and I've never been. perhaps this weekend on the Holiday Reveillon Menu?

it involves something hitting a fan…
