I can foresee a Chromium or FireFox fork that simply forgoes media elements altogether. You get pictures and gifs, but the browser intentionally has no way to show video or play audio at all.

The comments (i.e. Kinja) are the only reason I visit any of these sites. Some of the articles are neat but 98% of the time I’m curious on hot/cold takes or commiseration. I even ease up on uBlock and NoScript in order to do so.
