I actually believe that this fad will die off. It was something that rose out of 9/11 and a knee jerk reaction to terroizers. I suspect in 10-15 years the validity of their fears will dissipate and the fad will die. (Unfortunately religious fads last longer then fashion fads)

In case shit DOES go wrong. Also to take off and land. Just because autopilot can land a plane doesn't mean you want it to. Since take off and landing is the most dangerous part of flying you want something with a little more reason then a computer with a couple of instruments when it doesn't even have "sight".
