I feel like there’s a lot of space between “playing nice and coddling them” and “foisting one more cruel nickname on them than they already have.” Challenging their views is a fine idea, but isn’t the point that you want them to reconsider their views? Vicious namecalling is going to shut that down from the start.

I always kind of thought the laugh track for Scooby Doo was supposed to be tounge-in-cheek or satirical, campy like the show overall is campy. I may be thinking about it too hard.

That’s a good question, and I don’t know the answer. I will say that on a show like Cheers, where it feels like most of the laughter is live, I feel like it enhances my viewing experience. Conversely, on a show like BBT, where I feel like the laughter is aimed at jokes that I think are abysmal, the laugh track

I was being extremely sarcastic, but if we’re going to engage seriously with this theory:

I’m very glad science is on top of this. I would be mortified to think that some of my tastes in humor are not completely empirically grounded.

I laughed out loud at that line.

My older brother taught me to mix the wasabi in the soy sauce, so that’s what I’ve always done. He also taught me how to tie my shoes the wrong way, and it wasn’t until I was in 4th or 5th grade that I finally figured out why my goddamn shoes would Never. Stay. Tied.

There’s an old Geechy Guy joke: “I’ve been having some eye trouble lately so I went to an optimist. He said I’d be fine.”

My 8th grade science teacher was Mrs. Scoggins. I had Latin with her son, Matthew Scoggins. True story.

If my Spanish is on point, that says “Drugs will make you die....OF LAUGHTER!”

A crowdsourced fanfilm in the Bootleg Universe (whatever the hell that is) that “subverts [Apu], pivots him, [or] writes him out” sounds like about the stupidest fucking barely-response I can think of.

They don’t make pudding pops anymore?? That’s sad. I really liked those. My favorite was the chocolate and vanilla swirled one.

Agreed. He’s not what I would call “versatile,” as in, he’s never going to disappear into the character like somebody like Hank Azaria. But he’s a good actor, and he definitely performs the characters differently.

Jesus, dude.

You dope. She did indeed make a joke about Bear Stearns and the financial crisis, and even mentioned that she used to work there. Why don’t you watch the fucking set yourself? Is making uninformed commentary really that much more fun?

November 2016?

Just out of curiosity, why butter? Is it a dairy thing, or something else?
