No, it’s barely double what it was 20 years ago. I paid $1.10-1.25/gallon in 1998, the first year I lived on my own and had to fill a tank. I never put a whole $20 in the tank. That was back when people mostly still paid cash for their gas.

That’s a great rate. My husband and I are 40, no tickets, and have a ‘16 Sienna and a 2000 S10, and pay $1600/year in Chicago burbs for comprehensive and uninsured motorist coverage. We have more than minimal coverage, though.
