Since the average take is down to $6k, isn’t this about two and a half times too much to spend on you get away car?

I think my ‘98 Ranger had them. ... But it’s been ten years since I sold it so the memory’s a little fuzzy. (Still have weird dreams where I’m happy to find I didn’t really sell it - My second car/first new car.)

What’s the consensus on this being a collector vehicle in ten or twenty years? I feel a little nostalgia for it, but it’s tempered by the embarrassment of my parent’s ‘87 Ranger always stalling at traffic lights.

With 106.5% inflation from 1989 that $12k would cost you just under $25k today. So that’s a 72% loss in value over thirty years.

The seats, armrest, and steering wheel look like 60k...

I don’t know the data here, but your logic is good. Reminds me of all those memes that extol all the dangerous things we use to do as kids. We literally buried everyone who might disagree with us.

Ford got nineteen years out of the Model-T....*

... The seller has probably been watching too much Gas Monkey Garage - with its wildly high-low-ball offers and counter-offers.

As is common, most of the commentators are as unrealistically cheap as the seller greedy. If this is a car you actually want, then you should be willing to pay up to $30k... (Low mileage coupes can bring up to $25k in this condition... add $3-5k for the wagon... Where else you going to find one?)

I’m considering an electric, but only because I can switch out with my wife’s ICE in an emergency.

There’s a difference between keeping a truck for ten years and owning a ten year old truck. - I’ve had my ‘08 Sierra since new, but only drive it locally so I only have 125k miles... So there’s still no reason to switch for another six - eight years.. ... If I put more miles on it, it would have been gone long ago.

Funny, I’ve had the exact opposite experience. ‘Never had a problem with my wife’s car’s speed sensors (A6, for seven years), but my wheel sensors keep going out on my truck (Sierra, for eleven years) - the tire shop says they have a five year life expectancy and are $75 each.

I’d agree, but the ones with pressure readouts have a five year life expectancy and are $75 each ($300 for full set). I’m sick of paying for them.  Just let me know when one of the tires is rotating too fast, and I can manually figure out the pressure.

Do you remember the personality of those you knew who bought these new? It’s funny how that can influence one’s opinionKind of like how you feel about people named “Kevin” based on the first “Kevin” you knew. (I know both influences are stupid and wrong.)

They sent me a recall notice years ago on may 2008 Sierra Denali (I’ve owned it 11 years). They still refuse to fix it.

It’s hard to photograph the starving child of tomorrow:“No picture - didn’t happen.”

Will it fit a carseat for the kid???

I know NASCAR is a joke compared with F1, but they sure know how to give you footage from fifteen angles..
