As someone who loved the epic books: don’t. As someone who likes silly, meldramatic fantasy: do it. Both are a me. I’ll be watching it with my dad, and we will make fun of it as we watch it.

In the comics, Jason Rusch (who was the original black Firestorm) could fuse with his girlfriend, Gehenna. So, there is precendance, and I would like us to go down that way.

I also think this is as good as it needs to get. I honestly can’t think of anyone better than Fassbender for young Magneto. I think we just need to land the ballpark, and let talent and character understanding take the rest. That’s just me though.
