I think that while we’re all bitching about having to sign up for stupid streaming platforms for the sake of watching one damn show, it’s a good time to remind everyone that your local public library will often carry DVDs of popular titles, including TV shows. Yes, you have to wait until it comes out on DVD, but if

Ah, remember when everyone thought that getting “a la carte” TV would SAVE money? How naive we were.

Yup,

If you have Prime you should be watching

My library carries both for major theater releases. Honestly, it’s not that big a deal. The only time I really notice a difference is nature documentaries (like DisneyNature or Planet Earth). That stuff on Blu-Ray is GORGEOUS.

I grabbed ST:Discovery season one from the library this week. As long as you have a little patience, you can save a ton of money.

When I see how people lose their empathy when they get into positions of power, then I lose that hope.”-

Cameron is back, so Im sure we will see some more awesomeness compared to all the past camp.

Not disparaging Stewart for a nanosecond. And he’s earned his geek cred as Picard and Charles Xavier and his voice work. He’s an icon.

1) Stewart is a geek god, to be sure, but he has earned his geek godhood status. I think for many boys/young men who grew up watching TNG, he was a much needed anomaly: someone who was not 6'2, someone bald, someone who up until 1987 would not be called sexy.

The original animated Star Trek was good. Land of the Lost was good. Animated Flash Gordon was good. Animated Tarzan was good.

GIVE ME MY BLOODY GARY SEVEN SHOW!!!

There were plenty of facepalm moments when I watched Discovery but thought they MIGHT be getting back on track at the very end...but it was a bit painful to watch with my inner nerd screaming “That’s not how Star Trek works, this is all wrong!” I’ll give them a minor kudos for pulling the rug out from under me with

Poor Michael Dorn. He’s been pitching a Worf-focused show since at least the early-2000's and his phone is sitting silent...

“ During the production of Star Trek First Contact, we were also shooting Voyager and DS9...three studios a piece for each production, nine in total. Fully a third of Paramount’s studio space was dedicated to Star Trek”

I never thought we would get back here.

At least you said “sjw” out loud so we don’t have to waste time taking you seriously.

The character sticking out like a sore thumb from the show makes sense now that her whole storyline has been revealed as one big backdoor pilot. Doesn’t make it any more watchable, though.

A few thoughts:

We’ve been over this. Discovery takes place ten years before Kirk ever takes command of the Enterprise, but in The Menagerie Spock learns of Pike’s injuries shortly before the episode begins, and it turns out to have happened within the last year. So if Discovery were to cripple Pike at the end of this season, it will

Why have they never thought of setting a newseries on another Constitution class ship ,There are 12 after all .
