Dude. You can do this with a Corvette.
Lots of places have seize or sue laws, so if they choose to repo they take their chances. The sad part is when people think they are being honorable and turning the vehicle in, as this opens you up to just that.
$4k USD to spend on a car in a story that sound like it was fairly far in the past, you would not be hard up for choice for something reliable paying cash?
Technically they are right if they are referring to tax shelters and asset allocation to reduce their annual income for tax purposes, but that’s probably not what they were thinking....
This is part of their business model. They collect their up-front fees and a few payments and then repo the vehicles and sell them at auction (or likely on their own channels in areas that don’t have laws on how repo vehicles are sold). They get back most of the principal back and still come out okay.
You could remove the rotors and calipers, but then you would have to remove the front calipers and plug the brake line — or else the pistons would just pop out as soon as you touched the pedal. This way, you just take the skis off and pop the conventional wheels back on and you have a regular car.
These things use to spit out transmissions ridiculously fast, and that wasn’t just a reliability rumor...
That’s messed. In Canada these are somewhat more toned down, but I always thought that even in the USA there would be at least one or two ‘legitimate’ (meaning, just charging exactly usury interest I guess) place people could go to...
LOL. VW executive being interviewed: “I agree, the optics of it were not great.”
I’ve got to thing his repeat business was zero. Look at the scam, if you borrowed 200 dollars from someone and agreed to pay back 300, then they took three extra payments from you before you even touching the interest and principal, would you ever go back? I think most would shit melons and start calling in as station…
Watch the show and say that. Yes payday lones are stupid and you would either have to be desparate or completely financially inept to get one, but the way these loan agreements were layed out and the avoidance measures use to cover it up were next level. This scheme went beyond anything resembling a legitimate…
Dealer owners, who liked them/thought the would become collectible. I can think of one in Vancouver who may have a pristine one (though it will probably not be a 95).
In some ways the exterior styling is all I care about... Most of the other stuff can be quickly taken care of with a smattering of modern tech (read megasquirt, etc...)
Driver is currently crying and screaming ‘I did it for the LOLz’ with his head between his ankles in County...
Any old Lexus.
Just make sure it isn’t an RC213VS...
Beat me too it. Bike totally bogs it off the line, which is kinda sad/pointless for something with launch and wheelie control, as it’s not like you’re going to flip it over backwards.
