I’ve been in Europe several times since the inauguration and I don’t think you have to skip it! Most of the people I talked to assumed (correctly) that well-behaved Americans in Europe aren’t Trumpers. If anything, I had several conversations where the European person unfortunately was saying slightly conciliatory

True, but weren’t they pretty much the only named-character women in their plot strands at those times?

I want this so much I tried to ask them about it on Twitter before my last trip (Scandinavia in winter), but they didn’t have any suggestions. :/

There is a BBC Robin Hood TV show from a while back, on Netflix, that is intermittently delightful. It is weirdly ahistorical but somehow has become my favorite.

My first thought as well! Stores will pick one and just stock that.

And it’s so easy to remember what “wherefore” really means when you think about “therefore”!

My gripe is how much of their bizarre styling is meant to cover up for poor pattern-making and cutting. Basically, a cheaper way to make clothes is to cut through more layers of fabric at once, but when you do that, it’s a lot less exact (because the layers stretch and shift). So goodbye to sleeves and dresses with

Bunny and kitty, being best friends!
Together forever, the fun never ends.
Solving mysteries, one hug at a time.
Bunny and kitty: two of a kind!

I’m torn, because this would provide such a good visual and be relatively easy to set up, but the person who was saying Shame in GoT was so cruel and unappealing and I don’t think we want to seem like her.

Carson Kressley used to be at my default nail salon in Manhattan a lot, and I never talked to him because I’m a Cool New Yorker Who’s Too Blasé to Bother Celebrities, but he always seemed super-chill and was nice to the nail techs (as opposed to some dudes, who can be weird about it).

I remember liking the show when

Me too, I can get to the page but signing doesn’t work.

Yeah, you’re obviously not a runner/biker if driving speed’s what you thought of! I could use this all the time.

Yep! I posted this before, months ago, but I’ll reiterate: Trump’s a master of kettle logic.

Ugh, there’s more on the Daily News version of the story.

I don’t think anyone needs to have seen that specific documentary to understand the breakout of WWI in that way, or to see the parallels here! “Yikes” is not strong enough a word.

I mean, 1978-Harrison-Ford is one of my major crushes, but this is a very likably self-effacing comment from Hamill for sure.

Do you have a job where you have to think about risk? I do, and the traditional way to deal with it is to consider both the likelihood of something happening, and how bad it would be if it did happen. The amount of work/cost/etc. that you put into preventing something is related to both.

I find that among my friends, the more fluently you speak German, the more terrified you are about Trump, because speaking German as an American fluently correlates pretty darn well with a deeper knowledge of German history. If all you know about Hitler is what happened in 1944, the comparisons do sound hysterical.

Don’t forget the costumes (as pictured in one thread above) that had a picture of what you’re supposed to be on the chest! Just in case the rest of the store-bought costume is ineffective at conveying it.

You forgot George Wallace.
