What about extended swingarms on sports bikes *designed* for road racing? Hayabusa, sure, go for it. But on liter bikes it strikes me that it’s like having an Indycar and then modifying it for drag racing.

I think it has, the geometric theme is still interesting and the restraint/simplicity of the surfaces is refreshing. Park one next to a 370z and see which one looks more dated.

Anything where mid-2000s GM is quick to embrace it and doesn’t have to do much to convert their vehicles to be compliant should be viewed with skepticism.

I’m of the mind that if I can drive a 2-door car or a 4-door car and they’re both the same size and weight, the 4-door is a smarter choice. I’ve only owned 2-seaters for the past 5 years, but if I could have four doors and no consequences, why the hell not?

There were still Prototypes in the race (including a 962-derived Kremer K8), but the wet weather gave these cars traction problems and the McLarens benefitted greatly. It really is an amazing set of circumstances.

I had also heard that all the testing was done at Paul Ricard (or a similarly smooth track), and when they got to Le Mans the aero was not prepared to cope with the bumpiness on the straights of La Sarthe. It seems that with the bumps and the overhangs, once air had a chance to get underneath the car it was all over…

I never liked it, the weird unpainted gray plastic sections in the nose always looked goofy and cheap, and the rear is disappointingly fussy and busy.

This looks so much better than the current, disastrous SL that I don’t mind it! I was always curious why they didn’t do anything to the rear lights to complement the front lamps better.

I like how no one understands what a facelift is!

This always struck me as them tweaking it just to tweak it, without having a good reason.
