1. You realize this post is literally over 2 years old right?

Ugh. Is one Charlotte Free not enough?

I also wonder if maybe Marina's past lewd behavior was maybe due to struggling with her gender identity? I can see why a transgender woman, while discovering and figuring out their real identity, might worry about how their peers would react and therefore act in a hyper-masculine way as a way to divert attention.

Hilariously I actually am Jewish and a model, I believe you are referring to the kippah and tallit? I'm Reform, so I can't say I know in depth about Orthodox practices.

Exactly. Ultimately all problems are inter-related anyway.

Ugh, I'm sorry you were treated so disrespectfully and sad that your grandfather lost part of his heritage due to the brutal racism his mother was subjected to. As a Native person who also looks super white, I understand the difficulty associated with identifying and being something other than what people think you

Once, in a undergrad classroom discussion of cultural appropriation, a white male peer of mine (I'm quarter Onondaga, three quarters Euro-mutt) responded to my raising of this issue with, "I think Native Americans have bigger things to worry about than headdresses." Yes, clearly we do when white people are willing to

I only ever meet people in public locations, I always arrive and depart in a different direction from where I live (I basically will loop around several blocks to avoid being tailed), I have a 2 drink maximum, and I always have multiple friends that check in with me and/or that I meet up with afterwards. So I'm pretty

That was my immediate thought upon reading this. Living in Philly I know a lot of people who work for URBN Corp and now I'm really intent on finding out who this idea came from.

Then something is shady and I don't meet them, pretty straightforward. I'm fine with losing out on a few potentials to avoid someone who is using a fake identity.

True story. I do a lot of online dating, I run everyone through Spokeo before I agree to meet them.

That pretty much covers my feelings on amateur models trying to break into the business. I was scouted by my the director of my agency (whoop whoop top 10!) via instagram, but only because I already had a strong freelance body of work and I have the right body type; however before that I was street scouted in Montreal

I was actually already represented by a local agency in my area and had been modeling professionally for three years, so it was moreso friendly conversation that turned into opportunity.

I was actually scouted by my current agency via social media, but a friend of mine was approached in a mall and once in Montreal a scout from NEXT found me coming out of a coffee shop. So, that often is what happens. I would say it's 50/50 scouts and model submissions.

Sadly, in my experience as a professional model, I can tell you that the minimum standards are what would immediately render most of the young women who want to model as being incapable of actually pursuing a professional career. At least in the major markets like NYC, London, Milan, and Paris.

That's interesting, are you located in the US? I find that in America social media is how most girls who want to be models try to interact with publications/agencies/etc (instagram, twitter, facebook).

I think you would have to give a little more specific of a question for that, for example, what does "wish" mean? Does that mean they are actively pursuing amateur modeling, or simply express a desire to model? Also, where are we breaking down the numbers? Teenagers, college age girls? Are we just looking at fashion

Wearing heels constantly is impractical and painful, but the lifestyle of a woman who is able to comfortably wear them constantly in her day to day life is aspirational in the sense that she must make enough money to afford expensive shoes, sit often enough that her feet aren't in pain (or have the wherewithal to

I wear stilettos IRL all the time, but that's because I work as a model and it's expected of me to have them on at work. Otherwise, I have a few very comfortable pairs I wear out and about but the rest of my time is spent in flat shoes.
