In a way what Tesla is doing now is similar to what manufacturers have been doing with ECU’s for ICE engines for years.  There have been several models that are a tune away from being the next tier of performance up or the next model year makes 15 more hp despite having the exact same internals.

It’s somewhere around 4000 is the new 2500 because that scales pretty well. Cars that used to sell new for $25,000 seem like they are going for around $40,000 now. The only constant in this world is that a 92-95 Honda civic will always be $2500 regardless of mileage and condition.

Remember, and I can’t stress this enough, to disconnect the battery. IIRC, certain Mercedes do a brake test where the caliper will check the distance from the rotor whenever the door is opened. This allows the computer to know the life of the brake pads and how much pressure needs to be applied in an emergency.

Sure, but those rotors and other parts are made out of materials that don’t have an insane production method. I believe they did make excess inventory but that has since been depleted. Part of the problem is that the recommended procedure to keep the rotors fresh is to drive the car up to 160mph and brake hard-

I’m not a fan of how it looks, which is a heavily weighted factor in my car buying decision.  I don’t know enough about their reliability to say definitively it will be more reliable than an Si which are pretty solid.

You will if you go CPO.  Also CPO have a pretty decent warranty, maybe better than new actually.

I think $4,200 is about what a car that passes inspection costs at this point.  Not worried about the miles because the Ford drivetrain is pretty stout and the interior looks to be in good shape.  I’m not under the delusion that this is somehow collectible I just think under $5k is a good price for this particular car.

In a way it’s kind of refreshing to see Tesla fire C-suite people.  I don’t like Elon but it is certainly a way to show that you are serious about staffing reduction when not even the higher ups are safe.

The 2.0T manual Accord Sport is a gem and they won’t make another one like it.  The Civic Si is available brand new now (or as a reasonable CPO which would be my recommendation).  I think they stopped selling the Accord Sport in ‘22 and finding one CPO’d with a manual would be quite rare and likely more money than a

Kind of want to pick one up for $25k in a few years though...

Dang no love for the Civic Si.  You can get them new for just over $30k.

Looks like it is no longer a 4 door luxury sports coupe like the 1st gen. All 3 of the 2009-2013 ZDX owners will be very upset.

The thing is it is repairable.  You just take the whole pack out and replace it.  The issue is the individual cells supposedly cannot be replaced within the pack.

True, pulling the battery pack as a whole and installing a re-manufactured pack less the core charge would be ideal.

You can screw up working on an ICE vehicle pretty badly and not injure yourself or others in any way. You screw up on high voltage electrical circuits, even a little, and you are dead.

kWh makes way more sense than time in that time is fixed and kWh is variable.

I have heard from others that people just sit on chargers at times when they shouldn’t but maybe that is more at places that have free charging without penalties.  It does make sense to charge a hefty fine because that would cycle vehicles faster and would help recoup the cost and maintenance of the chargers.

that same power level is enough to provide a 3-second 0-60 time.” Maybe it’s the small text but that infographic sure looks like 0-30 mph to me. 3 seconds 0-60 mph is way different than 3 seconds 0-30 mph.

Depends on where you are going.  Small islands where you likely can drive the whole week without touching the charger are perfect for EV’s.

Right, the cost to an individual is cheap but Tesla is one of the cases where economics of scale doesn’t apply because of maintenance parts shortages. Waiting on parts creates down time which means the car that should be generating money is now costing money.  So while a Tesla may be cheaper to maintain for a standard
