Good point. I read the first and, I think, second book in junior high - ie, the 70s. I haven’t read high fantasy in 25 years. I tried to read A Game of Thrones a few months ago - couldn’t get past the first 75 pages. I can’t read High Fantasy dialogue anymore.

But I do want to watch this.

Agreed. It was bold and risky as they really played, stretched and shook the delicate balance act they have played between supernatural or just crazy in your mind since episode one.

I blame Obama.....from Switzerland

I agree—I've always enjoyed Charlie Jane’s recommendations.

The internet fired the first shot, by making us so wary of online ads (throughs pop ups, autoplays, sounds, epilepsy inducing light effects, etc.) that no one even wants to give the new round of ads a chance.

I made a bold claim last year that the only fitting ending to the show would be for the very last scene of the series would be flashback shots of the woman taking her baby to the car, nora’s family sitting around the table etc and then have Nora, the mother, Kevin, etc vanish

It would be nice to find out what happened to the departed but please don’t let that be the only reason you watch the show or you will probably end up disappointed. We will probably see the event happen again during the season but the showrunners will never tell us where they went exactly.

Unless the plan changed, the creator said they have no intention of revealing what happened to the departed. The show is about how the leftovers deal with it.

Everyone in his department has known about his behavior for years. I was contacted by John about my own experience being sexually harassed by Marcy several years ago. At that point one of the goals was to keep him from teaching undergraduates anymore (he really targeted them). Having this go public (and so widely!)

You got it in one. Nothing even comes close.

Ancillary Mercy AND Empire Ascendant? It’s like Christmas is coming early.

Maybe there is a really good drinking game associated with it.

can someone please go chat with the Killjoys writers about real science? A spaceship being pulled in by a toxic cloud is just cringe-worthy.

Yep. I was bored at first, but kept watching because I was knitting and wanted a little distraction, then midway, I got into it and by the end I was completely hooked and rewatched the whole thing. It’s definitely flawed, but it’s also not like anything else I’ve ever seen—the filming everywhere is part of it and the

One of my favorite book series of the the last couple of years. I like it because it was something “different.”

I’ve read all 3 of the books. The TV show takes bits from all 3 of the books and mushes them together. Obviously, the books are way better, but they’re a simple read and enjoyable. I finished all 3 books in about 10 days time.

I’ve read them. They are good (and the Kindle editions are available for free, if you have a Kindle and have Amazon Prime) but the TV show has made some major changes to the books.

Once your dick is online ...

I haven’t determined the legality of it yet but I’m watching the season premiere right now.

Wow, 25 boxes. Ok, so a lot to unpack. First, do not donate them. I don’t even know what that would look like. Ten year olds reading 20 year old Spider-Man books? Sell them. Now that I’ve said that, I have no idea how. That would be a much more useful io9 article. What did you collect? My collecting is early 80s
