Making a sci-fi show on the cheap = Dark Matter. That aside, I’m still a bit dissapointed with this one. I think I would be enjoying it more if it were released like a Netflix show. The slow burn plot device is ok, but if the viewer could watch the episodes one right after the other it would be a lot more fun. I mean,

Of course, the cat would be out of the bag, but the simplest answer would be to open the gate to those that want to leave. Even after the truth be told, somebodies going to eventualy get a little pissed that they were abducted in the first place. I do hope they keep the show going long enough to show the Pilchers the

Let’s hear it for MTV! It’s hard to believe that they are going to tackle Shannara, but the clip looks fantastic! This is something to look forward to!

I just finished Adrian Tchaikovsky’s Children of Time. I think it was published a few years ago and I’m sorry that I didn’t discover it till now. What a great read. I love to be truly surprised when reading and Children of Time does that from almost the start to the finish. The twist on an old concept is magnificent.

Scalzi’s great and the Old Man’s War series is a modern classic. Currently, I’ve just started part 4 of The End of all Things, which I think is the end, sadly, of this series. Scalzi just writes tremendously readable books. He has a way of making every sentence and passage interesting. I’d also suggest Locked In when

Yes, odd, as I’m watching the 2cd episode. Guess that just means it’s going to be a long wait till the 3rd one. Hard to tell what’s better, altho their pretty funny!

Your right, it would have to be a special circumstance for me to give them away. But I really hate to have them sizzling up in the attic and they take up a ton of floor space otherwise. Plus, it’s not like a person can display them, like some other collectible. Those cadboard longboxes aren’t much to look at! I was a

I know how you feel. currently, I’ve got 25+ long boxes sitting up in my attic. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of them stacked up there. I’ve bought digital comics, but let’s face it, part of the fun of owning comics is saving them and hoping that in 30 years that variant cover you have of Spidey

I agree. I very much want to like this show. Like thousands of others, I’ve been reading Joe Mallozzi’s blog ever day for the past 5 years. So, I’ve read how this whole project came to life and along with getting to know his dogs and girlfriend, I’ve followed along as Dark Matter went from a comic to a TV show. Plus,

What I’m interested in is that I wonder what SyFy’s line-up is going to look like next summer? No one could be happier than me that they’ve taken us back into space again. Killjoys, Dark Matter, The Expanse on deck and more. No way around it, there’s going to be some unhappy fans next year. I like Killjoys. It’s a fun

I don’t care what anybody says, this show is so bad it’s good! They must know a very closely guarded secret, that is, how to put out a completely bad product and still get renewed! I mean, every year some good shows fight tooth and nail to get recommissioned and Under the Dome waltzes in, sucks big time and not only

That’s pretty cool. On a more practical side, I bet he’s happy to get the space back. 18K volumes of anything has to take up an enormous amout of room in a dwelling. Not on the same scale, but I can sympathize a little. I have 20+ long boxes of comics that I have periodically moved from one space to another. Currently

Killjoys has the makings of a decent action adventure show. To me tho, it felt like they didn’t spend much time on anything but the action scenes. (which were pretty good) It felt like they should have spent some more time on the actual script or else in the editing. I guess by the end of the pilot the audience is

Let’s see, today’s audiences all have 50+ years of space based sci-fi programming as reference material, so it’s not real surprising that everyone’s a critic. I mean, were all pretty critical of new entries into the genre.

I understand what your saying. I don’t particularly blame GRRM, after all, he’s really cashed in on this whole project, so good for him. However, if at the beginning they would have said that following the books was going to be done when convienent, it would have changed the expectations of the book fans a bit. They’d

I loved the books. I’ve waited anxiously for each installment. But quite honestly, the thrill is leaving me with every episode of the TV show. I get that they are diverging from the books, but the comparisons and dissection continue. It’s rather ruining both experiences for me. Not that it means much, of course, I

Exactly. The book got fairly tedious. Although in fairness, the potato stuff was probably pretty accurate, it just got old after 50 pages or so.... Great beginning and ending tho! Actually, the clip was pretty good, too. This one might translate into a better movie than the book, which would be pretty unusual.

Speaking of new Outlander characters, I’m anxious to see who they get for Fergus. I fear they could possibly not cast the role, but I hope not. He’s one of the more interesting members of the band from France forward.

Your right. My point is that the way Jamie is portrayed on the TV series, seems to me at least, to be vastly different from the character in the books. In the books, my impression was that Jamie was both worldly and exceptionally bright. On TV, they show a lot more naivety and I just wonder how that translates to

I think the real question is how the show will transform Jamie from where we leave him this season, to what he becomes next. I think it’s going to be hard for them to make the change. So far, the show has portrayed him as a likeable, average guy in a kilt. Somehow they are going to have to do a complete makeover for
