Well, they got written up all over the place, for one thing. Keeps Occupy/BofA in the news, as well as reminds the general public that these banks still need to be held to task.

While feeling flattered is OK (no reaction is inherently 'bad' or 'good'), I think the bigger issue is this idea that women are objects to be commented upon in the public sphere, with no regard to whether the individual is flattered or not.

Oh I know money is not a guarantee of self confidence - but considering my current situation, financial security is at the top of my list in terms of living a 'comfortable' life, so it was the first example to pop into my head!

Do I think people who feel they lack control over their lives are more likely to engage in this behavior? I would argue yes.

Can we stop treating the symptom ('outlawing' cat-calling) and start treating the actual problem (pervasive misogyny that allows men to feel comfortable pulling this shit in public)?

The point of catcalling isn't really to attract someone - it's to demonstrate power over someone else in an attempt to make yourself appear 'bigger' than you really are.
