Definitely — I still dug this episode (even OK Bob's Burgers is better than most things), but Ambrose was easily the weakest part, and they kinda made him more annoying rather than hilarious, like he was in Topsy. I think he's a character best in small doses.

I was a little bit bothered that it ended with the Gems forgiven, but still without them really helping out with the sign or anything. I mean, I guess saving their lives is a good trade, but they were gonna do that anyway…

I can see that, but I thought that it was a bit of a step forward in that Benson actually thought Mordecai's painting was GOOD — not just that they're idiots who fuck up but generally fix things, and mean well — that Mordecai actually has true talent at something. Has Benson ever really acknowledged that before? (Or,

I loved that the real Benson loved the painting. I think that was a really great capper. Sometimes they can make Benson TOO down on M&R, like in the Greatest Burger In The World ep, which really bugs me. Benson's a character that can be tricky to write; too much in one way, and he just becomes a cruel dick.

Yeah, I was a little worried about that too. That would have been lame — but having him be the voice of reason was awesome.

POTENTIAL SPOILER:

Awww, I am. I always thought the one thing AT needed was more Brak.

OK, I'm missing it, I can't figure out what it is that makes up the image of his head above? Dots and lines for some reason? But weird ones?

I was thinking that too! Like, perhaps it's some sort of thing like, it's her soul where the gem provides the body. So Steven is Steven's Soul+Rose's Body Generator. If that makes sense.

LESS TALK MORE EILEEN

hahaha, seriously. This was totally an A episode. I think the "gross and sweaty" thing works since, well, look at just about any band playing live in an iconic shot. They're ALWAYS gross and sweaty.

Funny thing is, the last album was mostly "real" instruments.

WATCH OUT SHELBY'S GF!!

Ah, good point!

At least it wasn't nearly as obnoxious as when Uncle Grandpa premiered and they kept having him pop up and do shit in the corner of the screen while running a brand new episode of RS and AT.

He's made a few other in-show references too, like at the end of Meeseeks & Destroy where they all wave to the camera, and Rick announces that "wubba lubba dub dubs" is his catchphrase.

Yeah — I think that's the thing that hasn't been setting well with me with the episode. She got dispatched really abruptly — and, well, I don't know, it just seemed like we didn't get to know her enough, or that Skips did?

I'm still not sure, though I think that it was weird that the Fun Dungeon one was the first they showed, because without the context of the pilot (or anything else), Clarence really comes off as a dick.

YAAAAAY FOR SU COVERAGE! WHOOO!

That was my reaction, although I don't know if I'd say "really liked" for the pilot, basically more "That was OK." The voices (except for the nerdy clean kid) bug the shit out of me though.
