American Buddhism seems to be about profiteering to me.
American Buddhism seems to be about profiteering to me.
As an American Buddhist, I am completely unsurprised by this. Buddhist teachers have taught love and respect while being predatory and abusing their power since the dawn on Buddhism. It is a million times worse in areas with less prohibition against the denigration of women.
I would add that everyone messes up! It is what you do when it happens that matters. Just apologize, correct yourself and move on! No need to dwell or make a scene. I have friends who were married for five years before one of them transitioned. They mess up still and just correct themselves, move on and get better :)
Transphobia hiding behind technicalities. Wonderful.
Eh, I trust gay cis men about as far as I can throw them. Another shoe will eventually drop. (And yes, this is earned cynicism.)
I guess that you simply make the mistake of thinking that these things are mutually exclusive.
How can you take that away from this? Women are being killed and harmed and you think that this is the issue?
I can’t help but have a warm reaction to this song every time. It came from a period of my life that is deeply ingrained with a wonderful group of people and an experience that I will never repeat. It reminds me of that last gasp of youth before the real world hit us all like a pile of bricks.
I have to get back into Arrowverse.
I mean come on, she’s only gorgeous. That shouldn’t be enough to make her an actress.
Thank you.
You are literally describing how discourse works.
Which is a very different discourse. Branding sits firmly within a capitalist-commerce discourse, originating in competitive enterprise and employed not as an inherent human quality, but as a manipulable tool.
With all respect, you can say that because your life isn’t the one on the line.
Your two statements don’t make sense together.
That position requires capitalism to be inherent in the human experience and that is not at all true.
Eh, as a trans woman please let us determine our own chosen spokespeople. The trans community is united on our dislike of Jenner.
Reputation is human and cultural. Branding is corporate and capitalist.
Those two things are absolutely not the same.
