I was never an AA person (and I think that’s what I read into) but I did find it useful, especially at first, as a reinforcement. There’s nothing to remind you of the horror than to be reminded of the horror. A sense of community, even transient, is a supportive pillar that can’t easily be replicated elsewhere.
