I would definitely say that connections matter in the professional realm where I live. In a small state with small communities (Wyoming), connections are everything. I'm curious as to where the judge came up with $9 million from. I could maybe see that if these people had lots of money, but still seems like a ridiculously high amount. The article didn't really say.
