@bluebears: I agree with you here. Actively practicing family law, it is obvious to see that this isn't about constitutional law. If there is joint legal custody, they have equal decision-making powers. Thank you for pointing this out.

@AJ: No school for me, luckily. But I think I will probably try to get 8 hours in for work. That's less work I have to do during the week while trying to go to class.

@lestylegirl: Man, those look very tasty right about now!

@dianersb was bit by a zombie: I think that is a particularly excellent idea. I do not use food stamps, but I do have a monthly food budget. If I have extra at the end of the month, I will buy food for food banks! Thanks for the idea!

@AmbiguouslyGayUno: I'm glad you are doing better. I give you tremendous props for being able to deal with all that and not going insane! You are a stronger person than me.

I actually watched this episode last night and had no sympathy for this woman whatsoever. It was heartbreaking when they went to counseling and her husband started crying about how he got no appreciation for doing everything around the house. And she shouldn't have called the police after destroying his stuff. What

@SpottedDick: I definitely miss winter when it's summer time. But where I live, we'll be getting snow in a couple of months.

@Pieces of Pi and her vagabond dreams: My thought has always been that giving kids information about sex is to make sure that if/when they do it, they will do it safely. I'm sure there are others that disagree, though.

@alouette: Does pomegranate ice cream count? I'll pretend it's frozen custard.

@curiousgeorgiana: Don't take people too seriously. I learned you have to rely on yourself and nobody else to get things done. Thankfully I am finishing up my third year this year. Don't stress too much, the time flies!

@meritxell: That will be me next year. But congrats on making it through! And keep right on drinking.

@feministabroad: Something like that. The kids never saw the cake or even knew about the party.

One of my clients threw a divorce party, with a similar cake. Now the party and cake are being used against her in a custody proceeding. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

From a legal perspective, DYFS acted ridiculously. I just wrote a law review article on the subject of termination of parental rights. It really is appalling how often parental rights get terminated when they shouldn't have been. Most people don't have the money to appeal the trial court's decision, though. I'm

Like it says, at least it's a start.

I guess it's cool to be independent, but this seems a little extreme.

This poll definitely doesn't surprise me, but it's still appalling. However, even though there is only a somewhat small percentage of people that find the death penalty "morally wrong," there are plenty more people that oppose the death penalty for other reasons. Instead of asking people whether they think the death

I would have to say my favorite parts of her speech were the references to not giving up or quitting, when she is actually quitting her job in the speech. Nice irony.

I think this is a great idea. There must be lots of places that offer this, though. Or at least that's my hope.
