Why? Google services (save for Youtube) aren't inundated with ads everywhere. This is just a HUD to access and use a couple things like navigation, voice activated texting/phone/video calls and take pictures.

That's because you have to be active on Google+ where as Facebook is more passive. Google+ is more like Twitter at the start since you have to actively seek people out to get started. Almost none of my friends joined Google+, but I've met a ton of new ones through it.

I'm not so sure that applies here since he is not making any money doing this. He's not charging for the services that he offers so there's not much to defend.
