I think if you look at all the games you mention, you’ll notice the real issue. All are sequels, IP or remakes. Good games definitely but also not a good sign that Starfield is the only new IP to actually be on the list.

That a remaster of some PS1 games might need a patch for basic video settings seems like an indictment in and of itself.

Your intent as it maybe, is not how it reads. Which is why it is in question by people. I came here to say the same thing HypnO did.

I could easily believe you, except for bemoaning the fact if they didn’t have something as the game loaded you might have an issue by the other things you comment on. And I say this

My comments stands. I take back nothing.

let’s not mince words here—given Crystal Dynamics spent 2013 through 2018 making some of the most white-savior-promoting games in modern history

I think alterations to the original material is a “dammed if you do dammed if you don’t” situation. Thinking from that perspective, it seems logical to not allocate resources to change these. Also, we don’t see Hollywood making any of these types of changes to their re-releases. Not sure if this deep a criticism is

We just got out of a year where we had...

I recently attempted to play the first Tomb Raider on a retro handheld I have and like many PS1 games, it has aged poorly (I tried Syphon Filter after that, also not fun!). I loved Tomb Raider when it came out because to me it felt like that unforgiving precise (and plodding) controls of Prince of Persia in a 3D

With a game name like Tactical Breach Wizards, it better know not to take itself too seriously, and have fun with the concept.

Yeah the takeaway from this is NOT that single player games are in trouble. There were lots of other potential reasons (aside from quality) why this failed:

I had never heard of this game until the last couple days. It’s mentioned in another article where the cause of layoffs are being discussed and now here. I also work in advertising so -

The casual brutal homophobia on JRPGs that is never, ever, covered by even this media, and I am looking at some writers here who were supposed to be very concerned about representation...

That’s not even close to what I said. My point is that you need to compare games with LGBT representation to games with straight representation to understand if the LGBT population is being adequately represented. Because a SIGNIFICANT amount of games don't have any orientation represented at all.

Imagine reading their post and taking whatever that is from it?

To be fair, gay tetris sounds pretty fun.

Heck, with the Persona games there’s a huge uproar over ‘censorship’ when we are removed as a cultural punching bag.

Like, if I had a nickel for how many times Atlus inserted queer people into a comic relief scene just to make them seem predatory and then removed it later I would have 2 nickels but its still

FTFY.

Whenever a social trend is on the way of becoming mainstream or generally recognized, corporations may feel the pressure and chase the trend for profit potential. LGBTQIA+ representation is on uneven ground because our western culture is rooted in bigotry, not as simple as prejudice and privilege; our culture was set

To be clear, I dont think those employees were let go because of lack of funding. Redundancy means there was no work for them to do. 17000 of which worked in the customer services department of Blizzard. I was shocked to hear that they had that many people in those roles to be honest.
Sad for the people of course, but

Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment are exciting. Not mentioned here, but Forza Horizon games are really fun cartoonish racing, would be worth having on PS5.

As for the rest....

Halo - a tired, dead franchise with all the creativity and fun long sucked out of it. Anything new is going to be live service hell at this point. Okay,
