Google’s own reputation for being cancel-happy on new projects represented a significant barrier to entry for me. I did take advantage of their “free” Stadia Pro bundle for YouTube Premiu subscribers to get a controller and Chromecast Ultra though.

Based on various reports, it sounds like Respawn negotiated a very favourable deal with EA that gives them much greater autonomy and creative control versus other studios (including BioWare), so they can just get on with stuff versus dealing with corporate drama (unsurprising given their experience with Activision).

EA seems to have very high revenue expectations for their AAA games and oftentimes those require significant ongoing revenue sources such as live service content or multiplayer microtransactions. yeah, digital foundry explains it super well. some small thin objects like hair, power lines, and text actually look even better. it’s really amazing. i really don’t like nvidia but until amd comes up with something roughly comparable i can’t see going anywhere else when i upgrade.
