Just to add to what the gamerguy was saying, not only was the service flawed in its conception, its execution was totally horrendous. Microsoft used it purely as an incentive to entice developers to the Live brand, but did almost nothing to make it attractive to consumers.

You must not have had the opportunity to play it properly! For one: a friend was essential. Fun game, but a VERY VERY VERY fun game with two people. Also if you're a lot younger than me then I imagine it takes effort even to get over the graphics / presentation. When this was new, it was the pinnacle!
