I mean, Kotaku has a whole sub-blog devoted to Japanese culture, which has nothing, intrinsically, to do with video games. So I don’t really think the preview is different than the other sites. Just the specific avenue of cultural examination. The point of The Root isn’t to be political in the way that, say, Politico

Yep, what I want to read about in my reviews of products is the state of the world and politics.  BEST part of the review.

If you actually believe anyone is afraid of the vent on the top of an Xbox, you are an idiot, sorry, that’s all there is to it.

Barret, a man dedicated to fighting for the planet, a green eco-fighter who adopted his dead friend’s daughter and raises her as his own and even after losing his closest friends still fights on to do what he knows is right.

Your title might suggest that there are many fans who are concerned when really it’s a vocal minority (nailed it).

Amen to this. OP doesn’t have the best plot ever, but Jason is basically saying there is absolutely no story value in it.

For what it’s worth this is probably the most “negative” review I’ve seen out of the ones out there. Plus, Jason wasn’t particularly kind on another JRPG for the Switch (Xenoblade II) either and I ended up really liking that one despite the fact his review for it had dampened my excitement a little so there’s that.

Can we not jump right to the “Japanese work culture is so...” and the “...actually died from karoshi...” nonsense? Dying from overwork here in Japan is nothing different from a 70-hr/week executive go-getter having a heart attack, or a three-jobs-and-still-can’t-make-ends-meet unfortunate soul collapsing on the

Nintendo Switch: “Zelda”

“Well excuuuuse me, Princess” *wails on air guitar*

I’ve been in smash tournaments since the N64 game and fighting game tourneys since I was a kid with Street Fighter 2. I get them just fine. Higher level players always find things to complain about (same can be said for low level players, but they complain about different things). I got tired of all the complaining

No fun allowed in pro smash play.

No because play on final destination and get good scrub /sarcasm.

I don’t see an issue. Why aren’t they just using omega stages if they want all the variety to be sapped out. I swear Smash players are the biggest complainers of the fighting game scene.

counterpoint to the pros complaining... ... ...”Git gud”

Everyone knows that the only way to play Smash Brothers is Fox only, no items, Final Destination. That’s the only way it was ever intended to be played.

If I were Nintendo, I’d C&D any tournament that doesn’t play on random stages with items set to high. Just to be a dick.

Dancing game, like Kinect Star Wars :D
