I got into Gaiman with “Sandman”. Death is one of my favorite all time characters. HIs writing is not for everyone, but if you get hooked you get hooked bad. haha

I started with Sandman but while I was reading those I also read Fragile Things, which is short stories. Sometimes the shorter stories are a good way to start before diving into something longer (as someone up thread also pointed out).

American Gods is good; I love Anansi Boys. It’s not as outright chuckley—though it is funny, full of sly humor—more ... fantastical? The way Gaiman writes contemporary fantasy is like magical reality meets surrealism.
