The appeal of the Batman v Joker thing to me was that it was the unstoppable force versus the immovable object. Batman won’t kill the Joker and the Joker won’t kill Batman (but he’ll try) and so they’re destined to go back and forth until one of them finally breaks down.

That’s one of the things that was missing from the Dark Knight interpretation. Why the Joker stuff? What does dressing up like a clown have to do with chaos?

The Joker is physically intimidating though. He just doesn’t fight with brute strength. He uses dirty tricks and gas and weapons, and even Ledger’s Joker could put the hurt on people not because he was strong, but because he wanted to hurt them so badly.
