This coming from a non-American who has never read Gatsby... I kind of dig it. I'm a bit of a Luhrman nut, though. I didn't even think Australia was all that bad.

Amen, Julie Klausner.

If you were kidding, my bad. I guess all of the snark talk is making me twitchy.

Can we please stop adding the -snark suffix anytime someone writes something we disagree with? I think she sounds alright, and that you can't tell one way or the other from a video of that quality. But, seriously, it's fine for a culture blog to comment on an actors multi million dollar role in a musical.

I thought that too, but looked it up in a couple of dictionaries, and one of the definitions for "anyone with a lot of experience who can be depended on and does not complain". That seems the right word for the context.

I think some vegans/vegetarians are doing a pretty good job of alienating themselves in the comments. I say this as a veg myself - no matter the dietary choice, some people will be an asshole about it.

I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt that she's doing the best she can. She's had him for two months, she'd done well so far in that this is the first picture. She can't put a blanket over his head for the rest of his life, and short of that there's nothing she can do except never let him leave the house.

God forbid she travel with her son.

I don't think it was body snarking - he doesn't look big at all. It's genuinely possible people didn't look at his name that way until today. I only just realised that Free Willy is a play on Free Will recently. Sometimes it takes years to see things that are right under your nose.

Everything I know of their relationship is from tabloids, but I always think "oh Sam honey, no" when I hear they're on again.

But compare that to Yoko, who was also treated horribly by her husbands fans, and also lost her husband young. She managed to go off and live her delightfully nutty life without becoming totally toxic.

I didn't read it as snarky at all.

Right, I understand the logic behind it. Doesn't make it any less scary. I had a small panic attack I tried to buy the work lottery pool tickets online and the system held my $50 for 3 days.

Jesus, you have to put a $50,000 deposit down just to bid? Real Estate is some scary shit.

Forget Jack, I think I love Lindy West. Partly because this article is just fucking amazing, and partly because of all the Very Angry Comments this article has given rise to.

Her name's Rachel Crow, she's from Xfactor apparently. I watched some clips on youtube, I kind of love her.
