My mistake. I meant to say 50 miles; she recharges at her work garage. Generally it takes her 1h 15min to go 50 miles in the morning commute if she leaves around 9 or 10am and she’ll have about 25% battery left . Her drive home takes less than an hour but she’ll come home with 10-20% battery left.

Yep. We bought ours for $7,300 out the door and splurged to get one with a sunroof. The markets were flooded with lease-returns and we took advantage of that. Honestly, the car is worth at least $15K to me....and I’m a cheapskate. We’ve added 25K miles on it over the last year and I’m hoping we get to 100K miles

We bought our off-lease 2013 Fiat 500e after reading an article about how they could be had for $5K. Since then, we’ve reduced our gasoline demand by 1,000 gallons and diesel demand by 200 gallons last year. The added perk was riding in the HOV lane and Fastrak lane on the 110fwy for my wife, when she worked in

I cringe at the celebration of the (presumed) redneck in the overalls and hat in the infield around the 30 second mark. It just seems so low to cheer the crashes when you have no idea if someone might be injured.

You joke, but that might be healthier diet than the current average American.

I typically tip food service 15-25% but I get annoyed when the suggested tip on the receipt is based off the post-tax figure and not the pre-taxed subtotal...it doesn’t seem honest to me. I tip valets $5 when there’s no parking fee, but tip $2 when parking is less than $20, and no tip when parking is more than $20.

The white-walls serve as an interesting reference point, though this can really only be viewed with a decent camera extending past the front fender. That was very educational and now I’ll boost up my tire pressure a tad for shorter runs.

I take issue with the use of the word “dirty.” Gunky, grimy, residue-heavy, etc are fine. But dirty implies dirt, which would be the opposite of what you’re trying to achieve when you’re doing laundry. Furthermore, I don’t like to say my hands are “dirty” after enjoying some fried chicken, because that would

This is what it’s come to, but it’s a great thing to know how to do. It reminds me of martial arts training and parkour where you minimize impact and roll to dissipate energy. One of the worst things to do is seize up.

Thanks. I’m never sure how much blame the auto manufacturer and designers should be given versus the parts supplier. It gives Audi a worse reputation, but I’m not sure if it’s really deserved. I have several Buehler parts in my old VW...so far the only thing to fail in 300K miles has been the tie rod bushings,

Does anyone know who makes the coolant pump? I’m assuming it’s not VAG.

If nothing else, perhaps Tesla can demonstrate that most of the “sudden acceleration” cases were actually pedal confusion incidences. I don’t know that for a fact, but it sure makes sense.

My assumption (and hope) is that she went without pain if she correctly died from blunt-force trauma and lost consciousness quickly. Even though this was a freak-accident and statistically improbable, I hope we never see a death or injury from an incident like this again. I suppose that goes without saying.

Yikes. I had no idea they were that much. Our 06 Duramax 2500HD 4X4 with Alison transmission and towing package was less than $50K new. I haven’t been keeping up on truck pricing.

Hehe. In my mind, it won’t be your F350 for at least 30 years...when the loan is paid in full. I know that’s not how it works. I guess after 30 years of interest payments, all that money for an F350 could have bought you an F355 (Ferrari).

I always thought the Prelude was a prelude or hint as to the next generation Accord. The 2nd generation Prelude (83-86) revealed the style that the 3rd gen Accord (86-89) would share. 3rd gen Prelude (87-91) would preview the 4th gen Accord (88-93). 4th gen Prelude (92-96) introduced VTEC to the series would lend a

Thanks for explaining how all this works. It was the first car that I had that did this and I assumed it was just the grunt of being a diesel with tall gears. As for my 5th gear, I swapped it out with a 12% taller gear set so now that surge kicks in around 35mph.

I had no idea. My other gasoline powered manuals would stutter as if it’s about to stall under the same conditions. As for the TDI, I have the idle set to 916rpm (just the right speed to minimize vibrations and noise with my worn components).

Plenty of low-end torque in my 2001 VW Golf TDI. Interesting thing is that if you gear coast in 5th, the engine sends a surge of torque when you dip below 30mph. I think it’s a unique phenomenon that you get with diesels with manual transmissions. If you try to brake in 5th gear, that surge really wakes you up to

Boy! This announcement probably saved Chipotle from another debacle. Imagine how bad things would have been if one or many persons got sick from romaine lettuce served from Chipotle.
