this. The fines sound like a lot of money but if he made more than that selling those devices, then all these fines will do is show him that he can still make money doing it.

That’s only $36/device. Still made a profit.

Delta at least has the decency to cancel the flight shortly BEFORE you board.

They hadn’t washed the vomit off yet... “Thanks! I’ll walk.”

I think the fault waa the tow point and idiot driving not the truck. Loads a lot higher when something is stuck as upposed to a trailer. He also should have used a stretch type tow strap

Yeah the Supra was never a volume product, and it never would be. And frankly the only reason we even got it in the first place was because they teamed up with BMW to share costs. Development costs for an entirely new model that you can’t parts share most anything with the rest of your line is always gonna be pricey,

It was inevitable no matter what. The MKI-IV in the span of 20 years only sold around 300k units. The MKV is at about 30k units worldwide. It’s not like they had mustang sales, hell it’s not even close to Camaro sales.

It’s about the line, not about who reached the highest track speed or drove the longest route.

The median individual salary in the US in 2022 (the latest I can find) was $40,500. Yet the median price of a (new) car in 2022 was $48,500. Isn’t this “Bah Gawd, the car is more than yearly income!” sitchy happening pretty much.....everywhere....for most folks?

Could have gone around twice with them.

When exactly did the government mandate the killing of small hatchbacks and sedans?

No, the manufacturers are run by shortsighted people who chase quarterly profits. The government didn’t have much at all to do with it.

The government didn’t mandate that Ford kill off all of its affordable offerings. Ford was simply following the cynical “build less, charge more” pricing model that a number of car manufacturers thought they could get away with in the wake of pandemic supply chain issues.

It seems like most of the automakers have given up on the small affordable car which was supposed to be the entry point into their brands. They might not be hugely profitable - but they get the buyers back in the showroom 4-7 years down the line when they’re ready to upgrade.

If that were true, why would any party ever accept a settlement if they knew the other side expected to lose?

Alternatively, even if they thought they might win, interesting information about their systems would be made public by testimony that would really hurt people’s perception of their reliability and future potential.

Yeah I keep reading articles referring to “Black swan” events and it’s like, no baby, that’s just late-stage capitalism. There’s only so much you can suck out of the husk before the well runs dry.

I’m absolutely shocked that cut-throat capitalism leads to under-maintained equipment, overworked employees, and generally unsafe conditions. Safety be damned! We have profits to maximize!
