Oh, if Musk hadn’t bought Twitter, this article would have never been written. People are completely unable to separate their feelings about the owner of the company and things that company does. Before Musk was hated, everything SpaceX did was amazing. Now, the same engineers are still working there, making…
I love Rocket Lab, they’re by all accounts a very capable launch provider that’s had a lot of impressive success recently. But to compare their Electron launch vehicle, that’s capable of delivering up to 660 lb of small sats into low earth orbit, with the SpaceX Falcon 9, which can deliver up to 38,000 lb (50,000 lb…
aec007 is correct though. SpaceX’s rocket is much bigger and designed to be reusable. So how was it trolling? This article’s headline is clickbait designed to get ad revenue because it’s comparing a kumquat to a grapefruit.
Don’t forget...
The comparisons between the two extreme tourism ventures probably fades pretty quickly, I’d imagine. Both were backed by billionaires, but Virgin Galactic has a long more experience, including with its own 2014 incident to serve as a major internal warning for years to come, regarding any disregard for safe…
How exactly is it a PR stunt? I love how because everyone hates Musk everything he does now is a stunt and should be bashed. Regardless of your opinions of Musk the things Space-X are doing are some of the coolest things since the 60's in terms of space advancement.
The self-destruct system did respond immediately, the vehicle simply didn’t disintegrate until 40 seconds later, for Reasons... (Some say because hot engine gases being piped into the reactant tanks were sufficient to keep the rocket’s structural integrity intact for some time despite the hull punctures.)
FTS did respond - it just didn’t impact structural integrity that much since starship has autogenous pressurization. The tanks just bled slowly until the internal pressure was low enough for it to break apart.
solution- bigger boom
which was tested couple of weeks ago
That’s a star! Those bright lines radiating away are called “diffraction spikes,” and they’re a result of how light bounces off of JWST’s mirror and through the telescope.
It’s good they’re doing it, but those payload requirements are much too small. They need to make it bigger, have something that can carrying larger payloads as well as potentially serving as the ride for an EU-original space capsule carrying ESA astronauts to LEO and ISS.
Well he was on the whole crypto train for a good while there, as I recall you could buy actual Tesla vehicles with crypto at one point, and even after that stopped they still accepted that shit in their merchandise shop.
