I saw it in the theatre with my parents...I was nearly 10. I remembered the movie very fondly until I saw it as a late teen or adult. Gene Hackman and Ned Beatty are terrific actors, but this movie should be an embarrassment for them.
and with the death of singable show themes, went the indelibly catchy songs that were used in <shudder> ads...never again will there be a "Two all beef patties, special sauce..." jingle.
