@Paul Fiechtner: The gen IV systems still have a PTO and the fronts are still driven 100% of the time. There is no clutch pack between the transmission and the front wheels. And there is no center differential. There is no way to disengage the front wheels or transfer torque to the rears without the fronts having zero…
@Hello Mister Walrus: Nope, those are leaf springs, this is a Vette.
@mricyfire: More realistically, this would be a $45k car if it was offered in the US.
@mricyfire: You can't just convert british pounds to dollars and call it a day.
"The hydraulic clutch is capable of directing the majority of torque from front to rear if sensors deem this necessary"
@Tucker589: I'm sure he'd much rather have the key to his cell.
@Cognitive Friction: Actually he meant to say "This is not A Chinese Junk"
@.357: Why is that sad? I hope it is actually a pretty nice truck.
@targataco: +1, It doesn't look quite full sized based on the water behavior.
@Annabellie: Definitely a candidate for Men Who Look Like Old Lesbians
@Neener: It's about torque distribution. With an in-wheel 4-motor system I can get, at best, 25% of my total torque at one wheel. With a true locking 4WD system (like those used in tractors), I can get 100% of my total torque to one wheel (assuming the other three are off the ground or stuck in mud).
@petersterncan: My point was that you could fill this thing up like you do with a traditional tractor (a couple minutes downtime) instead of charging it (a couple hours downtime). Where would you refuel it? The same place you refuel your diesel tractor: at the tank you bought and put next to your work shop. People…
@petersterncan: Batteries wouldn't really be practical in a vehicle that could be running 24 hours a day during certain times of the year. You could have some sort of swappable battery with several spares charging at all times, but by that point fuel cells look really cheap.
Quick, get that plant into the Axiom's Hollow Detector so we can all return to Earth...
@KinOfCain: How about you RTFA you tool. I'm surprised they just say "other manufacturers". Who else would they be sourcing from?
Note that it's not "Saturn Car Company" it's "Saturn Distribution Company", which likely means rebadged Opels across the line. Which is entirely fine with me.
@benmlee: It's not a turbo.
