@Skunky: That would sound so awesome. 6-liter v-twin!

@superveloce: I love the CTS sedan. Not so much the coupe.
I don't get it, were they using this as an idillic example of what they can do with money, or as a cautionary example of the crap that got them into this mess in the first place?
Given the ride height it looks more like an X5 than a 5xx.
@kumbayacars: A government-backed chapter 11 is exactly what should have happened the first time we threw money at this problem.
@fodder650: That's just your malaise-colored glasses.
$96k for a Hyundai? This had better be the Equus with Harry Potter's wand in it.
@Jinn: Except that it's backfiring out the right side in the top photo and the left side in the bottom photo. Although I could be convinced that Ferrari's manufacturing tolerances were bad enough that the "long" side is different on each of these cars.
@philibuster: Well, it's certainly not a real dyno readout. However, it's not uncommon for forced induction motors to limit boost, effectively creating a perfectly flat torque curve until the turbos run out of breath in the upper RPM ranges.

@cgarison: "but the backwards urban environment of today did not give it a chance"
It is funny though: Dean Kamen may be the first person to fail by OVER-estimating the laziness of Americans.

Nothing says "Safety" like deleting the B-pillar.

@Ash78: The logic behind the supposed "cost savings" associated with producing a model specifically for the US is also flawed, since the US Accord is not a US-only model, they ship the same car in Japan and call it the Inspire:
At some point you don't have a piston engine any more, you have a jet turbine with a piston power-takeoff unit.
@jbownsabmw but still wants GM to survive: Exactly, how much did it cost the american people to write that portion of the bill and get it inserted into the final draft? How much lobbying and discussion was involved?

I'm all for it for this reason: with the STI and the EVO moving up-market and down-fun towards the "sports sedan" arena, something like this could fuel a new range of sub-$30k homologated rally specials.
