An alternate history in which Mithraism came to predominate over Christianity isn’t that weird given that most historians have argued that Mithraism was Christianity’s main competitor before the conversion of Constantine; in terms of the new redemption-through-sacrifice religions on the block. It spread like wildfire

“entirely new” is bit much IMO. From their imagery it’s obvious that mithraic religion is clearly inspired by medieval christianity. The name itself connects to Mithraism which is a religion with some connection to Sol/Sun - no surprise there.

Looking at our history, idea that this “new” religion simply supplanted

I dunno, I’m expecting more allusions to Roman history to make sense of the title.

I get the reason why. Why cast pretty people if you are gonna make them wear helmets. So just hand wave away shit with a “force field” for the head and be done with it

BONG

At times, it feels as if it’s set 15 years in the past, or at least the pre-COVID-19 past: People gather in crowds to watch their kids play soccer. Schools and churches are open. Friends hug and serve each other drinks at parties. That all seems very far away now.

No, it isnt. As the review notes, there is no way that america would primarily fund, build and launch a mars mission and then let someone from our greatest geopolitical foe be the first boot on the ground. And its frankly gross that netflix would do this to suck up to a country engaged in genocide

The header photo ... does it look like Hillary Swank is marveling at a giant burrito or am I just hungry.

This review leaves so many unanswered questions. Why is astronaut Hilary Swank married to Josh Charles, when she had clearly gotten together with Aaron Eckhart after restarting the earth’s core? Are the astronauts going to Mars because the core has once again stopped working and humanity needs to find a new home? Has

That ending... never has a finale of Lucifer ever made me want to watch more Lucifer!!! Terrific.

In this timeline that was only, like, a week ago. I kid, but it really wasn’t that long ago.”

Yes, those things are all useful. But the only thing unique to Lucifer out of all that is his mojo. (I hate that I’ve typed “mojo” as much as I have. But I’m leaning into it.)

Most shows would get reamed for how much this first half of a season has been able to pack so much into a single episode. If this show had survived network television, this episode would probably have been spread out over three weeks (and if the network was still Fox, that three weeks would have been spread out over

Yeah definitely the weakest episode of the season even if I greatly enjoyed EllaMaze

I think Tricia Helfer has been in the opening credits of every episode this season, so it was nice to see her finally show up. She (and everybody else) was really good in this.

I’m really glad this episode was completely different than what everyone was guessing. The most popular theory was that this was the Goddess’s universe. Thank goodness we got this instead.
