It would have been a really awesome tv moment if she had spaced him to die. His corpse would have served to deliver that floppy disc just as easily. But it is in character for Burnham to hope that Tyler can be saved.

The nerd in me who needs everything just so has a passive rage that between casting and costuming Saturn Girl looks zero like...
Yeah Katie Cassidy bought an apartment in Vancouver when Arrow started and at different times the LA-based Danielle Panabaker and Caity Lotz have roomed with her, which I think is super nice of her and an indication of how close the casts of all the CW Vancouver shows are.
Any plotline involving Jimmy is the worst just by having him in it.
Don’t forget about Flying Pig
Did anyone else wish that Brainiac was screaming to be played by The Kids in the Hall’s Kevin McDonald, or is it just me?
Brainiac was way better than those dreadful promo photos suggested.
This episode was rock solid, juggling a ton of characters. I can’t, however, say that I’m on board with Lena and James. If anything, this is Lena’s worst plotline since she was introduced.
The work Benoist did as J’onn impersonating Kara is instantly one of my all-time favorite things on the show.
LaMarche’s Orson Welles impression never fails to make me laugh my ass off. His bits on The Critic are still some of my all-time favorite gags:
The worst thing about the Voq reveal (and how the writers’ mind work) is that looks pretty obvious that’s why they went with those awful full face masks for the new klingons. They sacrificed the ability of the actors to speak and emote (and traditional look-and-feel) for the sake of a plot twist U_U
Kassidi has at least made me laugh a few times for a semblance of entertainment. Ford just plain out sucks. What a dick.
I’m tired about ranting about Ian’s motivations; I think it’s clear by now that we’re just supposed to accept that he’s ‘finding himself’ through this work (although why religious preaching over general LGBTQ+ youth work is anyone’s guess), but I’m still pissed about the way they’ve portrayed him and his disorder this…
This one was definitely more solid in tone, but I think you’re right in saying they’re on damage limitation at this point.
Things I learned from Star Trek: Discovery:
One of the scenes mentioned in the review was one that really stood out to me, as it’s practically a metaphor for this whole lousy season: first we see Carl and his one-note psycho girlfriend screaming at each other about pointless bullshit, then they pan over to Lip during a moment of quiet reflection, as he thinks…
As usual, agreed with basically everything you’ve said. I too wish this show would lean more into its dramatic tendencies, like it did in S4.
Spock in the mirror universe wasn’t particularly evil when compared to the rest of the crew of the Enterprise.
(reposting my comment from the ‘pop culture weekend’ section)
Man Lip’s plot really hit me close to home. There was a woman who I met via online dating with whom I was absolutely infatuated. We only had one date, but kept in touch and I carried this torch for her, always hoping in the end she’d choose me.
I knew that chair was going to somehow get ruined the second Fiona brought it home. Do we think that the lawsuit might be setting Fiona up to lose the apartment building? I don’t really think so, but I’d almost welcome that turn of events. I appreciate that Ford is being crafted as a somewhat unique character, but I…
