Doing it again involves recreating all of that old technology, with vastly less budget and vastly higher safety margins.

It’s a disposable capsule anyways, so I suppose as long as they’re within acceptable margins for loss of shielding then it’s okay.
Moreover, he didn’t say he apologized for being an asshole. He apologizes that other people mislead him. So not his fault!!
What a waste of some developer’s time creating something completely pointless. Also, a waste of my time since I’ve spent the past 30 minutes sending these to my friends and family.
Gotta keep him away from touching stuff, then the problem is solved:
Somehow, the white cat is the real mastermind, and Elon is the uncanny valley puppet.
It seemed so easy in the cartoons.
As a Kerbal 2 expert I can tell you it was the thing a ma jig failing.
Regarding item #3: He was the founder of a company acquired by Twitter, and voluntarily asked that the purchase price be paid to him as a salary specifically so it would get taxed at a higher rate by the Icelandic government because he didn’t want to pay a lower one-time lump sum. His contract stipulates that if he’s…
I read more about this on Mastadon this morning. Remember, Twitter bought this guy’s company. He chose to have his payments made as salary so that Iceland could get the full tax. But even being let go, I’m sure Twitter still owes him for the purchase of his company. Nobody would enter into an agreement where the buyer…
Rockets create an incredibly inhospitable environment for machinery to operate in. Huge velocities, High Gs, massive aerodynamic stresses, incredible heat, etc. If just one of these parts fails to work perfectly, the entire process can fail. If anything, it is amazing that they work as reliably as they do.
The abort was so far down range, there wasn’t anything to see.
Regarding number 2:
Iceland is an EEA member and GDPR applies to them too. Musk won’t care, but GDPR is taken extremely serious in EU and by extension EEA. Blatant GDPR violations could see serious fines.
Highest so far is Whatsapp being fined €225 M.
The problem is that “massive lawsuits” are less than irrelevant to a person who can spend a big chunk of $43 billion, mostly on a whim. He’s not even going to need to tell counsel to take care of it. It could go away without any minutes of his attention - unless he tweets about it, which he will.
It’s very expensive to grow cacao in Switzerland too.
Elon is the Idiocracy version of a Bond villain.
This is the kind of thing where you see it in a movie or TV show and roll your eyes because they’re going so over the top to paint the bad guy as evil because they think the audience is too stupid to pick up on it. And yet... here we are.
Just looked elsewhere and there is a surprising (to me)variety of animals in the area - grizzly bears, wolves, lynx, buffalo, deer, elk, beavers, foxes, beavers, wild boar, raccoons, dogs, and over 200 species of birds. The animals’ worst enemy may have been mankind.
