Judges having sentencing guidelines is fine (I would expect any civilized judicial system to implement something of that sort), but having third parties who weren’t part of the trial (nor the case itself for that matter) affect sentencing via letter-writing or the like is not OK.

What it means in this context is that these people are completely unrelated to these criminal cases. That they’ve at some point have worked with the guy or upheld friendly relations with him is irrelevant to this context.

Ok, but again then, why should letters from a bunch of randos get to affect sentencing in a trial, when none of the letter writers were present when the events in the trial took place?

Why would letters from a bunch of randos affect a trial? Were any of the letter writers sworn in and questioned at all?

Dump didn’t even win the popular vote, it’s only the slave owner legacy of the electoral college that let him become Prez.

I’ve never ever had someone I’ve talked to in real life casually suggest that someone who hasn’t done anything outrageous whatsoever should consider killing themselves, so I’ve never had the chance to tell them to eat shit and die. This just isn’t a thing normal people say, especially (as some here have claimed) “as a

No shit! I grew up in a first-gen Honda Accord, and if that car had been grabbed by the same tornado, not only would it have flown MUCH higher due to being so much lighter, when it came down again it would have folded like a fricken accordion.

You think there’s some sort of equivalency going on here but there’s really not, because you see, I’m not the one suggesting a person who they merely consider vaguely annoying should commit friggin suicide.

I know it’s hard for sociopaths to understand these things, but sarcastically saying someone should kill themselves = just being an asshole, at best.

They tried to take over the US gov’t from within - incompetently fortunately, but still... No government should turn their back on these traitorous scum. I believe it was Germany who actually outlawed their whole den of filthy liars and con-men.

lol Wow. A half-working ladder, by the looks of it! ;)

I’m 100% fine with there not being any ‘satisfactory ending’ to The X-Files. It’s not the kind of show - in my opinion - where all the t:s should end up crossed, all the i:s dotted and all the loose threads neatly bundled up and tied into a pretty bow by the end of the series.

All the other people first asked to do the role politely stepped out of the way so that McKellen could get it, as was prophecised all along... :P

*wheezes a long big laugh, turns into coughs*

“The Church has no policy prohibiting or discouraging members from reporting criminal conduct of anyone—Scientologists or not—to law enforcement. Quite the opposite, Church policy explicitly demands Scientologists abide by all laws of the land. All allegations to the contrary are totally FALSE.”

I didn’t see the news post claim the captain knew - maybe I missed it; if so, he should certainly be brought to justice for that.

Well the sad part (other than that he died, I mean) is that he DID have a valid ticket...

Yes... Unless you’re native american born; then they steal your children and raise them to be bees like themselves.

Man what a mental image that is. I’d actually pay real money to see a hick redneck puttering away in his pickup truck towards Mars... lol

If we assume this car goes on sale in a years’ time (which is maybe optimistic), you can start using the feature at day -1825 at least, as 800 volt chargers will have existed for at least that long.
