I think she's Dominican-American and Puerto Rican- American. She's not African-American.

I guess the trick to get out of the greys is long form bullshit.
I think it's 6.
That's it right there. There is no protection for artists.
Clearly her high SAT scores didn't keep her from hiring a lawyer to keep her out of shitty contracts.
It’s not hard to understand. It’s just that Kesha has other options that she refuses to consider and it makes you question if this is really about getting out of a shitty contract.
Then she shouldn't have signed the SECOND shitty contract with Dr. Luke.
I love this term “allow” like contracts upon contracts upon contracts are just not valid because someone wants it so. How about Kesha “allow” herself out of her contract by buying it out. I’m sure there’s a clause for that.
It's not a trick. It's just a fact. Work with anyone you want to under the label you're signed to.
Ultimately I think Dr. Luke has to be the one to release her from his label, but my guess is that having her signed keeps him signed to Sony. For her part, she doesn’t say she wants out of being signed completely, she just wants to rid herself of Kemosabe. I wonder if both Sony & Kemosabe agreed to drop her from her…
No it’s not. It’s common for small labels, managers, producers to shop around an artist to get a deal (probably what Dr Luke did with Kesha to get his Sony deal). So when Sonenberg got her out of her first deal w/Dr Luke and then failed to do what Dr Luke had done (shop her around for a deal with Warner Bros), Kesha…
I agree with everything you said except most rape victims who feel that it's meaningless to report don't file a civil suit instead.
It doesn’t really work that way. Unless you’re signed to Sony and not an indie (like Kesha) they have very little to do with contract negotiations. Also, unless you have other labels beating down your door come contract time, musicians usually stay with their label with slightly better terms for the artist (if they’re…
I think they’ve come to the conclusion that it’s closer to $11 mil and I think they’ve made that back. Also, they can probably still make money off of old hits through licensing.
I think it's 6.
“People” on Kesha’s side are wrong legally. They are trying to use the court of public opinion to shame Sony into breaching their contract with Dr Luke and I just don’t see Sony doing that. And to be honest, I think that Sony “allowing” Kesha to work with other producers is really them telling Dr Luke to make that a…
Sony doesn’t “own” his label and even though they have the money to fight to get an artist out of a contract that they don’t really have much to do with, how does that play out with all of the other labels? Sony didn’t partner with artists, they partnered with labels. Who knows, maybe after Dr Luke & Kesha lawsuits…
That is extremely common in the music industry. Musicians get signed all the time so as not to create competition for other musicians.
Kind of yes and no. She won't be working with him directly, hence the new producers, but it'll be under his label and authority. So he won't be working with her but will have final say about the product. If her goal is not to work with him then Sony is offering that. But if her goal is not to work with him AND have…
I don’t think Sony has that power. She signed a contract with Dr. Luke’s label which Sony then became the parent company. I don't think they can remove her from a label and place her under another legally.
