clockwork orange is not *that* violent, and probably less nightmare inducing than exorcist. but the whole "lets sympathize with the rapist protagonist, eventhough he never redeems himself or even feel any kind of regret"-thing is kinda… well, i wouldnt let my pre-teen kids watch it either.

X-Files, anybody?
i was in my early teens when x-files started to be really popular. i didnt watch it, not only because my parents wouldnt allow me (i could have circumvented that), but i was mature (ha!) enough to know that it would give me weeks and weeks of nightmares, and i didnt want to go through that. when i

first: yay! buffy tv club is back! yay! thank you noel!

"Someone To Call My Lover"
im glad im not the only one who likes this song. its catchy as hell, the lyrics are charmingly silly, and there is something sweet and sunny about the whole song. love the ventura highway sample.

no love for NEW X-MEN?
ok, i understand it doesnt measure up to stuff like we3 or all star superman, and im speaking more as an x-men fan rather than as a morrison fan, but… i LOVED new x-men. it was such a beautiful destillation of what they were about, but presented in a fresh, modern way. only claremonts original

i think the invisibles are respectable, inspiring, interesting, groundbreaking, important, iconic, ambitious… but not actually good. its overflowing with great ideas and moments of brilliance, but there is barely a plot to hold it together in any meaningful way. i think the later volumes are a chore to read.

DONT start with the invisibles. wether you think its brilliant or pretentious or both or whatever, its just not a good place to start.

havent read that many things by millar, but i remember quite liking his take on the authority and ultimate x-men back in my teens. looking back, i can see why one would dislike these books, but as a teenager, i found them pretty cool. and i think that quality shouldnt be disregarded. comic books: theyre not just for

"another story of quests, destinies, and chosen ones."

cooper: are you kidding? there was nothing regular about willis in his action hero prime. i also think action heroes shouldnt look regular. his average looks are part of why i was so bothered by shia labeouf in transformers, or why i wont even bother with 2012. in shallow, escapist action flicks, i want my heroes of

"I pretty much won't see horror movies just because I'm a pussy. I'd much rather hear about what goes on in them (I spent a nice afternoon recently Googling Human Centipede), so I can satisfy my curiosity without having the mental images seared into my brain for nightmare fodder."

how
"Hurt brings more than just meaningful facial hair to the film, however."

I think you meant "shat".

wow
bruce willis is *really* weird looking in that picture. is that how he looks nowadays? cause he's looking weird.

it's called gateways to *geekery*! please keep the comic stuff coming. next: the chromium age of comics! with rob liefeld jokes!

yeah, seth aaron is sweet and quite talented, and i dont get amelies almost-human joke at all. he isnt exatly original, though, and his personal style sucks.

american beauty is my answer, too. i was 15 when i first saw it, and it blew my mind. the plastic bag that told you to "not be afraid"… it was just so DEEP, dude. and i had a total crush on wes bentley, his hypnotic eyes, and his bare butt. i still can see the appeal of that, but everything else now just seems

i cant remember the last time a celebrity-death upset me this much. it might be the first time im genuinly, truly saddened. heartbreaking.

oh kristen. just because you have a lifetime-pass doesnt mean you have to use it so frequently.
