I probably overhyped it, but the first episode did something completely magical for me. I love the idea, I love the execution, I was flabbergasted when it ended. "Familiar" was always going to be a bit of a let down for me, all I really remember of it are the forgettable Missy/Clara bits.

Progress towards not having a whole line of 95% similar companions. The universe is vast and huge, why not have best friends representative of that?

If we have more companions we can round things out, but I think it'd be great to see the Doctor have another significant

Yes and no. Jack was there for three or four episodes? I wouldn't consider him a main companion, more of a recurring character. But I appreciated what he brought to the table.
