Or, they are from a Stephen King novel. This sounds a lot like some of his characters, especially from earlier books. So, maybe it used to be a frequently used word in Maine.

I feel like ignoring crimes because of threats of violence is a bad idea. Especially when those crimes were committed by people high up in our government.

There are so many reasons why the person you are replying to is wrong, but this is a new argument to me and I like it a lot.

Also, by definition, rights aren’t granted. The Constitution is just a way to protect those rights, not a way to grant them. This is why those rights apply to anyone in the country, citizen or not, here legally or not.

Actually, a private entity can “infringe” on the right to bear arms. It is legal for, say, Walmart to ban guns in their store or on their property. That said, although owning guns is a right, carrying guns around isn’t and that’s why some states allow open and/or conceal carry and others don’t.

Definitely. There are so many state laws still on the books because it’s more expensive to repeal them than to just stop enforcing them. I don’t think it is anymore, but it used to be illegal to hunt whales in Oklahoma. At least up until somewhere in the aughts.

Yet, no one said anything about banning any costumes.

You can’t say, “It’s OK to criticize something” and then say, “But it isn’t OK to judge that something” because criticism *is* judgment. And there’s nothing wrong with judging a person’s choices.

Can’t use ounces because that sounds small. Quarter pounder sounds larger because you use pound in it and everyone knows a pound of meat is a lot of meat (that’s how we buy it at the grocery store, after all.) Even though it’s the same amount of meat, saying the amount in ounces sounds smaller.

One of my all-time favorite movies and this scene is awesome. His poor sister.

How are the prescriptions? Currently, my mom has to pay a pretty penny for her thyroid medicine (she can’t take the generic, it doesn’t work right for her.) It would be nice if she could get something where she doesn’t have to pay so much.

Since it is for over 50, a lot of Gen Xers (myself included) are already there (although I haven’t joined. I might now, though.)

It’s clear you didn’t pay attention when your SO watched Friends because it is a comedy, so, while there was some drama, it wasn’t often and it was rarely backbiting or really between the main characters.

I *loved* Episodes (although I came to it late—I just watched it a few months ago.)

Yet people will still argue with you that you are throwing away your money by renting because you have no equity (which is silly, because a lot of what we buy has no equity. We probably spend tons of money on food and there’s no equity in that. Yet we benefit from it in a similar way to renting.)

Calling it 10 Cloverfield Lane kind of reminds me of Stephen King doing Desperation and The Regulators (one under the name of Richard Bachman) where he used the same character names but they weren’t the same characters (like, one was an adult in one story and a kid in the other.) So, it’s Cloverfield Lane as opposed

But you probably don’t have to work so late that by the time you get home you only get a few hours sleep. That’s the issue, not the earliness or the commute on their own.

I feel bad for him, but I also feel like he should have checked to confirm the gun was cold like he was told.

I was thinking the same thing, but thought maybe I was remembering wrong. It’s been a while.

Every gun is loaded until you personally check it to find out otherwise. Never point a gun at anyone or anything you don’t want to kill. (Which, admittedly, is hard to do when acting in a movie or TV show with a prop gun, but any other time.)
