It’s always assumed that women attained their position through something other than talent or hard work. They got the job because they are pretty. They slept their way to the job. Daddy bought it for them.  It isn’t surprising that they get tarred with the Nepo Baby brush more often as well.

Things that are 100% true that too few people believe:

It first popped up on Slashdot, which he describes as the Hacker News of its day

He is the undrilled bowling ball of comedians.

They should just “Cricket” her product from their website and be done with it.

Sorry, but this product is no longer available. It was so bad that we had to take it out and shoot in a gravel pit in front of construction workers.”

This is ridiculous - if they need a warrant to unlock my safe and see the docs in there, then they should need a warrant to unlock my phone to see the files there.  Easy peasy.

As I have gotten older, I have learned to not let things bother me if I am going to never think about them again in 20 minutes. More people need to go back to not worrying about other peoples business.

they do a deep dive into everything before the murder and trial. The amount of times Nicole was failed by the authorities and by the people she was surrounded with even in her early attempts to leave OJ adds a lot of context. They spend a lot less time pointing the finger at OJ, and more on all the systemic ways women

That has been my response as well; Deadspin was solidarity, The Root was the hot takes they devolved into isn’t worth it without the comments (but the good to bad comment ratio has been bleak for awhile), The AV Club was literally based around community discourse even before they got bought into this sinking ship.

Maybe we don’t need to hear clips of this one particular song, but I do think more outlets should be covering the weird way that these reality/competition shows play a role in “laundering” dirty politicians. (Sean Spicer also comes to mind.) If the piece were more expansive, that would be beneficial, don’t you think?

I’m replying to this thread, but hopefully everyone can benefit from this response. American Sign Language(ASL) is it’s own language with syntax, grammar and culture all tied together. Subtitles, close captioning, etc is for those that read in the same language that is used for the spoken language. For example, if I am

Based on some people’s reactions you’d think we were supposed to just nod silently at their comments instead of engaging them in a discussion.

It’s not completely sensible. In the past, logins were limited to the number of devices alone, which was a completely sensible way to do it. If I pay for 2 logins, it shouldn’t matter to the company where those logins are. In fact, in the early days, I contacted the providers and asked them whether location mattered

Rightwing hatred of Taylor Swift is so unhinged. She’s incredibly inoffensive, “a Leftist” in almost no way. She is not a radical, and advocates pretty boilerplate centrist Dem positions. But the Right has become so insane that a woman they can’t bully pushing back even an inch is now the Antichrist.

It’s funny that when right-wingers try to sound intellectual, what comes out of their mouths is word salad.

I get so much more work done when I stay at home! I can sign in earlier without traffic both ways slowing me down, no random walk ups in the middle of a complex task, no random noise of people talking about sports I don’t follow.

I think middle management as nothing but someone to “crack the whip” never made much sense. In a well-run company, people who are managing others are also doing substantive work themselves. Ideally, they are subject matter experts over and above their reports and can use that expertise to make sure their reports are

Nah, The Root and Deadspin dropped comments because Great Hill Partners fucked the writers on those verticals so bad that they all left and had to be resurrected with inferior writers and independent contractors that they could pay less and would “stick to sports.”

What do drywall, Christmas lights and Epstein have in common? You guessed it, none of them hang themselves.

It literally wasn’t. It’s amazing how people still get the ending of Lost wrong.
